Chapter 0353
Seeing this, Franklin immediately felt emboldened. "Why is a worker like you meddling so much? Just call Hansel out! We have something to discuss with him!"
As the pair resorted to their shameless behavior, the assistant frowned even more deeply and was about to call security when Hansel emerged from the conference room.
"Mr. Johnsonโฆ" The assistant sighed in relief, as if he'd finally found his pillar of support.
Hansel had just finished a business negotiation when he saw two supposed cleaners and his assistant blocking the entrance to his office from a distance.
Hearing the rude remarks from the pair, he quickly pieced together who they were based on what Evelyn had mentioned a few days ago.
"You can go back to work," he told the assistant with a dismissive wave.
Then, he opened his office door.
Without needing any further invitation, Lucy and Franklin brazenly walked inside.
It was only then that Hansel took a good look at them.
The womanโs skin was a bit loose, probably due to her age. Her eye sockets were slightly sunken, but her facial structure suggested sheโd been quite a beauty in her younger days.
Unfortunately, her sharp chin, thin lips, and darting eyes gave her a mean and shrewd appearance. Ingrid bore a strong resemblance to her, with the two sharing about 60% to 70% of the same facial features.
As for Franklin, with his pointed features and a look that screamed trouble, he was the very picture of a delinquent. His shifty appearance suggested he wasnโt up to anything good.
While Hansel scrutinized them, Lucy also silently evaluated him.
The man was tall, well-built, and handsome. He looked like a corporate protagonist straight out of a TV show, even dressed in an immaculate suit. But his eyes were cold, giving off a sense that he wouldnโt be easy to fool.
Her gaze fell on Hanselโs wristwatch. Though she didnโt recognize the brand, the numerous diamonds embedded in it gleamed brightlyโit had to be expensive.
That brat sure knew how to pick a man!
Lucy swallowed hard, as her greed was barely contained. For a moment, she considered skipping all the pretense and going straight to the money talk. After all, wealthy people like him wouldnโt mind parting with some cash.
But she caught herself, reminding herself not to be hasty. Sheโd come too farโthere was no way sheโd ruin it at the last step.
Lifting her chin slightly, she tried to adopt a stance of righteous indignation. "Youโre Hansel Johnson, arenโt you? The one who got my daughter pregnant and then abandoned her?
"You think you can bully our family just because we donโt have anyone to stand up for us? Iโm here today to demand justice!"
"Justice?" Hansel chuckled, but his smile never reached his eyes.
"Thatโs right! If it werenโt for you, she wouldnโt be in this situation! You heartless bastard! Youโve ruined my daughterโs life!" She then raised her hand, as if about to strike him. Yet under his icy gaze, her courage faltered.
She quickly dropped her hand, looking somewhat embarrassed.
Seeing this, Franklin stepped forward, adding his voice to hers. "You think you can push us around because you think weโre nobodies? You used my sister, and now sheโs lying in a hospital bed after losing the baby, suffering through hell.
"You think you can just walk away without taking responsibility? This is a society governed by law! If you push us too far, weโll take this to court and see who ends up embarrassed!"
Hansel merely watched them put on their performance, his face remaining unreadable.
Finally, he asked, "Are you done?"
Lucy and Franklin exchanged a quick glance. "Whatโฆ what do you mean?"
Hanselโs tone was cold and direct. "Letโs not waste time. Name your price."
