Chapter 0369

โ€œWell, then youโ€™re mistaken. I canโ€™t speak for others, but as for meโ€“Iโ€™ve got a heart of stone,โ€ Winter declared.

Zach couldnโ€™t help but laugh out loud.

โ€œTsk, why are you always laughing?โ€ Winter complained.

โ€œWell, should I cry instead?โ€

โ€œSure, Iโ€™ll hand you some tissues.โ€

Zach fell silent before taking out his lighter. Winter gestured for him to hand it over. He assumed she had finally shown some kindness and wanted to light his cigarette, but instead, she slapped his hand away.

โ€œI want a cigarette!โ€ she exclaimed. โ€œWhat am I supposed to do with a lighter? Youโ€™re so out of itโ€ฆโ€

Zach was left bewildered.

He lit one for himself first and, without waiting for her to remind him, obediently held out the lighter to light her cigarette.

The flame flickered, illuminating her face. She leaned in, trapping the cigarette between her teeth, her red lips leaving a distinct lipstick mark on the filter.

Zach found himself momentarily entranced.

โ€œHey, put out the flame,โ€ she snapped.

โ€œUhโ€“right!โ€ He quickly tucked the lighter back into his pocket.

They lingered in the bar for about two hours, finishing off a bottle of red wine. By the time they stepped out, it was already past midnight.

Neither of them could drive after drinking.

Winter considered getting a designated driver, but the app showed there were thirty-six people ahead in line. She stared in disbelief.

โ€œForget it,โ€ Zach said. โ€œItโ€™s a Saturday night in this part of town; no chance of getting one for at least an hour.โ€

โ€œFine, Iโ€™ll just grab a cab and come back for my car tomorrow.โ€

However, the line for cabs was even worse!

Winter stood frozen. Suddenly, her eyes brightened as she turned toward Zach. โ€œHow are you getting home?โ€

He replied casually, โ€œIโ€™m not going home.โ€

โ€œWhat do you mean?โ€

โ€œSee that hotel across the street?โ€ He pointed at it.

Winter nodded. โ€œI see it. So?โ€

โ€œItโ€™s my familyโ€™s.โ€

โ€œAnd?โ€

โ€œIโ€™m staying there, obviously. Why head home when thereโ€™s a perfectly good hotel right here?โ€

Winter blinked in realization, then grinned. โ€œWhy didnโ€™t I think of that? Alright, letโ€™s crash there tonight.โ€

Zach coughed. What did she mean by โ€œweโ€? He almost choked on his words. Even so, Winter wasnโ€™t done surprising him.

โ€œWhat are you standing around for? Letโ€™s go get a room!โ€ she called out.

She was laughing as she crossed the street, her hair flowing in the night breeze. Her legs were long, and her waist was slender. She was just effortlessly stunning.

Zach hurried after her. โ€œHey lady, take it easy! Watch for cars!โ€

At the hotelโ€™s front desk, Zach instructed, โ€œGet her a room.โ€

โ€œRight away, sir,โ€ the receptionist replied.

Winter raised an eyebrow. โ€œAnd you? Not getting a room?โ€

โ€œI already have a suite here,โ€ Zach said. โ€œI can come and stay whenever.โ€

โ€œThen get me a suite too.โ€

Zach couldnโ€™t help but chuckle. โ€œYouโ€™re really something, you know that?โ€

โ€œAs the only officially recognized girlfriend of the esteemed Zach Graham, are you saying I donโ€™t have even this much privilege at a Graham familyโ€™s hotel? Arenโ€™t you worried people would laugh at you?โ€

She actually said it with a straight face.

โ€œFine,โ€ Zach conceded. โ€œAssign her a permanent suite, same as mine.โ€

Winter smirked. โ€œNow weโ€™re talking.โ€

They then grabbed their room keys and took the elevator to the top floor. Their rooms faced each other, and they swiped their cards and went in.

After taking a shower, Zach was about to settle into bed when there was a knock on his door.

โ€œMr. Zach, this is Dani, the new girl,โ€ the hotel manager introduced with a wide grin.

He then turned toward the girl and said, โ€œDani, be sharp, alright? Make sure you take good care of Mr. Zach.โ€

โ€œYes, sir,โ€ the woman responded shyly, her voice soft and sweet, dripping with honey.
