Chapter 0369
โWell, then youโre mistaken. I canโt speak for others, but as for meโIโve got a heart of stone,โ Winter declared.
Zach couldnโt help but laugh out loud.
โTsk, why are you always laughing?โ Winter complained.
โWell, should I cry instead?โ
โSure, Iโll hand you some tissues.โ
Zach fell silent before taking out his lighter. Winter gestured for him to hand it over. He assumed she had finally shown some kindness and wanted to light his cigarette, but instead, she slapped his hand away.
โI want a cigarette!โ she exclaimed. โWhat am I supposed to do with a lighter? Youโre so out of itโฆโ
Zach was left bewildered.
He lit one for himself first and, without waiting for her to remind him, obediently held out the lighter to light her cigarette.
The flame flickered, illuminating her face. She leaned in, trapping the cigarette between her teeth, her red lips leaving a distinct lipstick mark on the filter.
Zach found himself momentarily entranced.
โHey, put out the flame,โ she snapped.
โUhโright!โ He quickly tucked the lighter back into his pocket.
They lingered in the bar for about two hours, finishing off a bottle of red wine. By the time they stepped out, it was already past midnight.
Neither of them could drive after drinking.
Winter considered getting a designated driver, but the app showed there were thirty-six people ahead in line. She stared in disbelief.
โForget it,โ Zach said. โItโs a Saturday night in this part of town; no chance of getting one for at least an hour.โ
โFine, Iโll just grab a cab and come back for my car tomorrow.โ
However, the line for cabs was even worse!
Winter stood frozen. Suddenly, her eyes brightened as she turned toward Zach. โHow are you getting home?โ
He replied casually, โIโm not going home.โ
โWhat do you mean?โ
โSee that hotel across the street?โ He pointed at it.
Winter nodded. โI see it. So?โ
โItโs my familyโs.โ
โAnd?โ
โIโm staying there, obviously. Why head home when thereโs a perfectly good hotel right here?โ
Winter blinked in realization, then grinned. โWhy didnโt I think of that? Alright, letโs crash there tonight.โ
Zach coughed. What did she mean by โweโ? He almost choked on his words. Even so, Winter wasnโt done surprising him.
โWhat are you standing around for? Letโs go get a room!โ she called out.
She was laughing as she crossed the street, her hair flowing in the night breeze. Her legs were long, and her waist was slender. She was just effortlessly stunning.
Zach hurried after her. โHey lady, take it easy! Watch for cars!โ
At the hotelโs front desk, Zach instructed, โGet her a room.โ
โRight away, sir,โ the receptionist replied.
Winter raised an eyebrow. โAnd you? Not getting a room?โ
โI already have a suite here,โ Zach said. โI can come and stay whenever.โ
โThen get me a suite too.โ
Zach couldnโt help but chuckle. โYouโre really something, you know that?โ
โAs the only officially recognized girlfriend of the esteemed Zach Graham, are you saying I donโt have even this much privilege at a Graham familyโs hotel? Arenโt you worried people would laugh at you?โ
She actually said it with a straight face.
โFine,โ Zach conceded. โAssign her a permanent suite, same as mine.โ
Winter smirked. โNow weโre talking.โ
They then grabbed their room keys and took the elevator to the top floor. Their rooms faced each other, and they swiped their cards and went in.
After taking a shower, Zach was about to settle into bed when there was a knock on his door.
โMr. Zach, this is Dani, the new girl,โ the hotel manager introduced with a wide grin.
He then turned toward the girl and said, โDani, be sharp, alright? Make sure you take good care of Mr. Zach.โ
โYes, sir,โ the woman responded shyly, her voice soft and sweet, dripping with honey.
