Chapter 0475
โDo you seriously think that cutting ties with me will make Miranda forget our friendship and agree to be with you?โ Hansel asked. โYouโre so naive.โ
He snatched Samโs cup and smashed it on the floor. The porcelain shattered, and sharp shards flew everywhere. โI never knew you were such a love-struck idiot, Sam!โ
Calvin and Zach instinctively took a step back to avoid the flying shards. They exchanged uneasy glances and were taken aback by Hanselโs sudden outburst. But what really threw them was that Sam seemed ready to risk everything just to cut ties with Hansel.
Despite their earlier falling out, Hansel and Sam kept their feud private. Still, they continued to invest in key projects and shared the profits. When it came to money, personal relationships were secondary.
If it were Calvin and Zach, they would never let their pursuit of a woman get in the way of making money. But Sam, always the strategist, had them baffled this time.
Even Hanselโs jab about him being love-struck only deepened their confusion. They just couldnโt figure out what was going through Samโs head.
Sam glanced at the broken pieces on the floor. โSuch a waste. A perfectly fine cup was smashed because youโre pissed. Did Miranda end up like that cup?โ
Hanselโs face darkened. โWhatโs your point?โ
Sam shot back, โCall me petty or childish if you want. Who cares? I just want to cut ties with you, and I donโt owe you an explanation. Iโm doing this because I want to, and because it makes me happy. Is that an issue for you?โ
The tension in Hanselโs body was evident from how his chest heaved and jaw tightened.
Sam smirked. โWhatโs wrong? Youโre reluctant to lose those projects or that money?โ
Hansel hesitated before barking, โYou think youโre better than everyone else? That you donโt fucking love money?โ
โI do. But Mimi is more important to me.โ
Calvin and Zach winced. They felt a chill creep over them.
Sam continued, โYouโre right. Miranda might still turn me down even if I cut ties with you. But so what? This is my choice. Whether she says yes or no, thatโs on her. Iโd love things to work out, but if they donโt, does that mean I should just sit back and do nothing?
โThatโs the difference between us, Hansel. You wonโt take a chance unless youโre certain of the outcome, but I will risk everything.โ
Hansel retorted, โEven if you know youโre going to fail?โ
โThereโs no such thing as guaranteed failure. It happens to those who donโt put in the effort.โ
โYouโre insane!โ
โHehโฆโ Samโs lips curled into a knowing smile, as if he was holding back a sigh. โMaybe.โ
He didnโt mind.
Hansel asked, โDoes it have to be this way? Pursuing Miranda doesnโt mean we must end our partnership.โ
โWho says it doesnโt? In my book, it does,โ Sam said firmly.
Hansel said coldly, โIf youโre intent on self-sabotage, donโt drag me down with you.โ
โThatโs exactly why Iโm warning you, so you can be prepared.โ
Hansel said, โYouโre basically throwing money into the sea.โ
โIโll take pleasure in hearing it splash,โ Sam said.
Hansel fell silent and was baffled by Samโs state of mind. He was convinced that Sam had lost it. With that, he turned on his heel and walked away.
Just then, Sam spoke again. โI met Mirandaโs parents while I was in Lumberville.โ
Hansel froze at the revelation.
