Chapter 95
Winter put on her sunglasses as she spoke, imitating Miranda by taking a sip of coconut water. She smiled contentedly.
Miranda crossed her slender legs and turned. โI thought you were on a date.โ
Winterโs lips curled in disdain. โThat blonde guy was so muscular; I thought heโd be good. Turns out he was the opposite. Even my current boyfriend is much better.โ
Amused, Miranda asked, โAre you talking about Kevin, the one I met?โ
โOh, heโs history. My new boyfriend is bright, adorable, and smells good. More importantly, heโs a skilled cook!โ
Winter peered at Miranda through her sunglasses. Jokingly, she teased, โWhat about you? Arenโt you going to start another relationship?โ
โWasnโt it boring to revolve around the same guy? Dating different people is much more interesting!โ Miranda stared at the ocean. โNo. I donโt have the time or energy. Itโs unnecessary.โ
โThatโs true,โ Winter smacked her lips. โMen will only hinder your studies.โ
She stretched, her gaze drifting elsewhere. โWellโฆ I saw a hot blue-eyed guy. Iโm going to chat him up. Enjoy yourself! Bye!โ
Miranda raised her glass. โEnjoy yourself.โ
Hansel stood before the floor-to-ceiling window in his office. His sharp gaze fell on Joe. โHave you looked into it? You canโt be making another mistake, can you?โ
Joe was nervous. โIโm sorry, Mr. Johnson. I was careless last time. I did a thorough check and found Ms. Sutton went to Marvedis, not Hashtown.โ
โAre you sure?โ
โHere are her flight details. Ms. Suttonโs name is on the passenger list.โ
Hansel didnโt examine them; he was sure they had the right location this time. Joe wasnโt entirely to blame. After all, who would have thought Sam would stoop so low as to exchange Mirandaโs information with another passengerโs? He misled Hanselโs men, who then gave him the wrong information.
Hansel said, โBook me the earliest flight there.โ
Joe checked his phone. โMr. Johnson, the earliest flight is at 7:00 a.m. tomorrow.โ
โThat will do.โ
โAlright. If thatโs all, Iโll take my leave,โ Hansel said, waving him off.
Joe turned to leave, carefully closing the door.
โMr. Levine, why are you sweating? Did Mr. Johnson yell at you?โ Annie Lexton asked.
Joe waved. โDonโt remind me. Oh, right. Book Mr. Johnson a 7:00 a.m. flight tomorrow to Marvedis. Iโm late and need to go.โ
โSure. Donโt worry. Go ahead to Taraโs parent-teacher meeting. Leave this to me!โ
Joe chuckled. โYouโve only been working a few days. Donโt be overconfident; youโll regret it.โ
โDonโt worry. I just have to book a flight; nothing can go wrong, right? Youโre underestimating me.โ
โAlright, hurry up. I have to go. If Iโm late, Tara will nag me for weeksโฆโ
Annie immediately took out her work phone to book the flight. The passenger details were already linked. When she checked out, it showed she was buying two tickets.
Annieโs first reaction was to call Joe to clarify whether to buy a ticket for Hansel only or for Ingrid as well. However, the call went straight to voicemail.
She dared not approach Hansel. Besides, judging by Joeโs tone, the ticket was urgently needed. After consideration, she decided to buy two.
She had a reason: Hansel couldnโt be going to Marvedis for business, right? If it was a vacation, he must be bringing his girlfriend. Getting two tickets seemed right!
