When Her โDeathโ Couldnโt Break Him Chapter 101: Nathaniel, Marry Me
โStella, whatโs your plan now? Did Mr. Rainsworth mention when you two are getting married?โ Yvetteโs words were strained. โIf all else fails, Iโll expose Cecilia online and ruin her reputation.โ
Stella rose and began trimming nearby flowers.
โDonโt,โ she said after a pause. โThis would affect Nathaniel.โ
Yvette relented.
After seeing Yvette off, Stella snipped a perfect rose, letting it fall. Whether past or present, Nathaniel had never once mentioned marriage. Sometimes, love is plain to see; Nathaniel never truly loved me. From my confident return, declaring my pursuit, to now, his girlfriend in name onlyโI'm a joke.
With this thought, she swept a vase from the table. It shattered, scattering fragments and flowers. Her hand was cut, blood welling. A thought struck her: she picked up a shard and slashed her wrist. Then, she sent Nathaniel a photo and message:
Nathaniel, it hurts so much, and I want to see you so badly. Can you come and visit me?
Half an hour later, Nathaniel found Stella on the floor of her Polaris Condominium apartment, thinly clad, blood dripping from her wrist. His brows furrowed. โWhat are you doing?โ
Seeing him, she staggered to her feet and threw herself into his arms. โNathaniel, take me, please! Even if you donโt marry me, just take me! I beg you!โ
Disgust filled Nathanielโs eyes as he forcefully pushed her away. โHave you forgotten everything Iโve told you?โ
Her cheeks flushed, but she persisted. โI havenโt. You said that since I saved your mother, youโd treat me well and give me anything I asked. Nathaniel, werenโt we great together? Everyone said we were a perfect match. Why are you unwilling to move forward now? Is it because of Cecilia? Didnโt you say you didnโt like her?โ
The mention of Cecilia seemed to lower the temperature around Nathaniel.
Stella once saved my mother's life with a blood transfusion, but her demands became excessive. His patience had snapped.
โYou have two choices,โ he said. โOne: you become Mrs. Rainsworth in name only, like Cecilia, and I offer no further help. Two: stop asking for marriage; Iโll provide any job resources you need.โ He knew she coveted the title.
Stella hesitated. Before returning, sheโd investigated Cecilia; as Mrs. Rainsworth, she was little more than a servant. Stella feared becoming the second Cecilia, yet she was unhappy with their current arrangement.
Silence stretched. Nathaniel saw the shallow cut; she was acting. He turned to leave.
But Stella embraced him again. โNathaniel, I donโt want to choose. Please donโt leave. I beg you. Stay with me tonight? Iโm so scared to be alone. People are saying Iโm a fool, that you donโt like me at all, ever.โ
Nathaniel felt no sympathy, only annoyance. He pulled away.
