Chapter 140 Severely Injured
In the evening, Nathaniel left the house. Shortly afterward, Cecille received a text from Sven. He informed her that Nathaniel had departed and urged her to escape, as he had something to tell her. Due to the tight security surrounding Daltonia Villa, Sven could only observe Cecille from a distance, ensuring her safety and monitoring Nathaniel's movements.
After putting away her sheet music, Cecille also left the house. She instructed her driver to make numerous turns, successfully evading her tailing bodyguards. Sven's car soon appeared. Leaving her own vehicle, she entered his.
"What's the matter?" she asked.
Sven opened his navigation app, setting a course for the western part of Tudela. "This is where Nathaniel went this morning. I followed him for a while; the security is very tight there. I suspect Eli is being held there."
Cecille examined the expansive area. "It's too vast."
"Exactly." Sven produced another phone and gave it to Cecille. "Use this from now on. Your current phone may be tapped. Mr. Reese said he'll return in a few days."
"Thank you," Cecille replied.
"Mr. Reese wants you to contact him once you receive this," Sven added.
"All right."
Sven drove to a secluded, unmonitored area. Cecille made a call.
"Ceci, how are you?" the voice asked.
"I'm fine. Don't worry. I'll find Eli," Cecille responded quickly. She worried that, given Nathaniel's methods, even locating Eli wouldn't guarantee his rescue.
Chapter 140 Severely Injured
"Okay. Did he hurt you?" Calvin asked, standing atop a tall building, battling the cold pre-dawn wind. His tall, strong frame bore fresh wounds; his handsome face was similarly injured.
Cecille, suppressing her emotions, replied, "No."
"Wait for me. I'll be back soon." Calvin sensed she was hiding something.
"All right. Don't rush. Vivian's with me, I'm fine." Though unaware of Calvin's work, Cecille understood his perilous situation.
After the call, Calvin returned to his room. A doctor immediately began bandaging his still-bleeding armโa wound longer than his palm, bleeding profusely.
"Your brother seems intent on killing you," the doctor observed.
Calvin calmly replied, "He thinks I'm still the child he can manipulate."
"Sir, should we inform Mr. Bennett?" the doctor asked.
Calvin shook his head. "If he cared about my well-being, he wouldn't have left me in Tudela for years. We can't rely on anyone."
The doctor nodded. However, the extent of Calvin's injuries shocked him. "Sir, you shouldn't be in public. It's too risky."
Calvin refused. "I need to return to Tudela."
Knowing only Cecille could change Calvin's mind, the doctor focused on his treatment. Calvin had recently undertaken overseas projects at Bennett's request, but sustained these severe injuries before completion. He needed to finish quickly and return home; he couldn't leave Cecille alone in Tudela.
