Chapter 182: I Am Ready To Get Pregnant
Nathaniel wasn't sure why he'd ordered so many flowers. Perhaps it was the car accident; he wanted Cecilia to cheer up during her recovery. Perhaps it was also to atone for his past guilt, and for asking her to drop the charges.
Liam was puzzled. โIs this urgent? What kind of flowers? Are we expecting guests?โ
Nathaniel, gazing at Cecilia from the window, replied, โPlant as many as possible.โ
โUnderstood,โ Liam said, unsure what constituted โas many as possible.โ He oversaw the renovation of Daltonia Villa and knew the garden's size. He arranged for a massive flower purchase. By nightfall, every available bloom in Tudela was gathered, filling trucks bound for the villa.
Cecilia slept soundly, oblivious to the nocturnal floral invasion. The next morning, stepping onto her balcony, she was astonished. A sea of flowers greeted her; it felt like a transformation of the villa. She hurried downstairs, only to find Nathaniel gone. In the garden, amidst the vibrant blossoms, doubt consumed her. What happened last night?
Meanwhile, Nathaniel, en route to the office, sneezed uncontrollably. He hadn't anticipated this many flowers. Opening his car window offered little relief; he was severely allergic to pollen.
"Mr. Rainsworth, are you alright? Should we go to the hospital?" his concerned driver asked. The driver himself had been stunned by the villa's floral spectacle. It's not a house, it's a fairy palace, he thought, deciding to bring his wife for a visit.
"I'm fine," Nathaniel said, calling Liam. "Replace the flowers."
"All of them?" Liam asked. Knowing Nathaniel's flower allergy, and assuming the display was temporary for clients, he'd only transplanted them.
"Replace those with high pollen with lower-pollen varieties," Nathaniel instructed.
Liam faced a challenge. The garden was immense. He'd spent the previous day meticulously arranging the flowers; finding replacements would be difficult. "Understood," he replied. Fearing his staff's inadequacy, he decided to oversee the replacement himself.
At Daltonia Villa, Cecilia couldn't understand Nathaniel's sudden floral frenzy. But the breathtaking sight compelled her to photograph it for Vivian.
Vivian, seeing the photos at work, was amazed. "Ceci, did you travel alone?"
"No, it's Daltonia Villa. I don't know what Nathaniel did last night, but he planted all these flowers," Cecilia replied.
A thought struck Vivian. "Is it to impress Stella?"
Cecilia knew Nathaniel disliked flowers. Vivian's suggestion made sense; Nathaniel was likely trying to cheer Stella up after Cecilia's lawsuit had damaged Stella's reputation.
"I guess so. He asked me to drop the charges yesterday, but I refused. He must be trying to make Stella happy," Cecilia said.
"That jerk!" Vivian exclaimed.
Cecilia soothed her friend. "Don't worry. My ovulation period is in a couple of days. I'm ready to get pregnant this time."
