Chapter 184 Little Rascal

Around this time, school was dismissing. Zachary set off to confront Jonathan. Arriving at the preschool, his gaze remained fixed on the main entrance until he spotted the "little rascal." The numerous parents at the entrance prevented him from sending his bodyguard; he had to act alone. "Surround him. Don't let him escape," he instructed. Zachary knew Jonathan was clever.

Jonathan, awaiting his ride, sensed something amiss. He glanced around and, in the reflection of his dark eyes, saw Zachary's darkened face. Bewildered, he wondered how Zachary had found him. Without hesitation, he darted into a group of children and fled.

Felix, curious, asked, "Jon, what are you doing?"

Jonathan, noticing Felix, said, "It seems your ride has changed. You should go now."

Felix, somewhat puzzled, followed Jonathan's gaze and spotted Zachary. "That's Mr. Zachary. He's Uncle Nathaniel's friend. I didn't expect him to be picking me up! I have to go. Goodbye."

Zachary watched Jonathan disappear into the crowd. As he started to pursue him, Felix grabbed his thigh. "Mr. Zachary."

Zachary looked down at Felix's bright, eager eyes. He was, after all, the Rainsworth family's eldest grandson, their cherished treasure. "Felix, what's the matter?"

Felix found it odd. "Aren't you here to pick me up?"

Zachary was confused. Why would he be picking up Felix? The Rainsworths already treated him like a son; did the Sinclairs feel the need to do the same? Zachary, who disliked children, gently pulled away. "You've misunderstood. I'm looking for someone."

A sense of loss washed over Felix. But Jon had said... Wait. How did Jon know Mr. Zachary was picking him up? Did Jon know Mr. Zachary? He quickly pushed these questions aside. He deeply admired his uncle Nathaniel and those close to him. "Mr. Zachary, who are you looking for?" He knew Zachary and Nathaniel, both childless, a fact his mother had attributed to misfortune.

"I'm looking for a little rascal," Zachary replied, searching the area. He intended to find Jonathan, discipline him, and spank him.

Hearing "little rascal," Felix dismissed any connection to Jonathan, whom he viewed as diligent, eloquent, and attentiveโ€”nothing like a rascal. "All right, you should wait for your parents. I'm going to find the little rascal."

Zachary spotted his target hiding in a corner, quickly approaching and scooping up the child. "Little rascal, I've finally found you!"

Upon lifting the child, Zachary realized the child only resembled Jonathan in clothing style. Their appearances were entirely different. The child, terrified, burst into tears. "Boo-hoo... Bad guy..."

The child's cries attracted the attention of parents, teachers, and children. Were it not for Zachary's decent attire and handsome appearance, he might have been mistaken for a kidnapper. Awkwardly holding the child, he was relieved when a parent swiftly took the child.

"Are you out of your mind? What are you doing holding my child? I'll call the police!"

Zachary's face hardened. "I'm sorry, I mistook him for someone else."
