Chapter 249: Will Not Wait Anymore
Nathaniel stared at the message, immediately dialing the number. There was no answer. He grew impatient and deleted the message.
When he returned to Daltonia Villa, Cecilia was already asleep. After bathing, he embraced her. Thinking of Zachary's child, his kisses fell upon her, one after another. Cecilia had no chance to resist.
The following morning, Cecilia awoke to the sound of running water. She dressed, freshened up, shouldered her bag, and waited for Nathaniel. Soon, he emerged, casually dressed, appearing significantly more relaxed.
As they left the mansion, a chilly drizzle fell. Just as Nathaniel was about to leave for Spring Forest Manor, his phone rang. It was Stella. Cecilia saw him hang up. Shortly after, a text arrived: "Nathaniel, can you please answer? I've run into some trouble here."
Cecilia's plan was to expose Stella during the opening ceremony, but not yet. She hadn't expected Stella's urgency. "Answer it," Cecilia suggested considerately. "She must have something urgent."
Nathaniel took the call. Afterward, he told Cecilia, "There's been a slight hiccup at the launch. I need to go, but I'll join you at Spring Forest Manor soon."
The thought that Stella was involved chilled Cecilia. She remained composed. "Alright, Elliot and I will be waiting for you there."
Cecilia's eyes crinkled in a smile. Suddenly, Nathaniel embraced her. She leaned on his shoulder, contemplating their impending farewell. Her resentment softened.
"Ceciliaโฆ" Nathaniel began, but hesitated.
Cecilia gazed at the sky. Snowflakes fell, mixing with the rain. "Nathaniel," she said, "it's snowing."
A few snowflakes landed on Nathaniel's shoulders, melting instantly. He removed his overcoat and draped it over her. "See you in a bit," he said.
"Mmm-hmm."
He left for the ceremony. Cecilia followed, heading toward Spring Forest Manor. Nathanielโs permission ensured unimpeded entry.
The launch ceremony was at the studio. En route, Nathaniel composed a message: "When I return, let's have our wedding ceremony again." He revised it repeatedly, finally settling on: "Wait for me to return."
He felt uneasy. Stella had mentioned an obsessed fan who'd sent her a threatening message. Stella, however, merely used this as a pretext to get Nathaniel to the venue, unaware Sean was there, holding an invitation for Cecilia.
Sean clenched his fists, watching Stella's media interview. His eyes burned red. "She's really living the good life now, with both wealth and fame! And she left me with nothing," he lamented.
His bodyguard said, "That's why our boss is giving you this opportunity. How you use it is up to you. I believe you should know better than anyone how to embarrass Stella and Nathaniel!" Calvin aimed to ruin Stella's reputation and make Nathaniel a laughingstock.
