Chapter 274: Please Divorce Me
Cecilia trembled as Nathaniel held her tightly. โNathaniel, itโs over. Please donโt do this!โ
Nathaniel tugged at her clothes. โDid you really think you could decide on a divorce alone?โ
Cecilia realized escape was impossible. Desperation seized her; she bit hard on Nathanielโs shoulder.
He grunted, but didn't stop. The taste of blood filled her mouth. She stared blankly, then cursed, โNathaniel, you bastard! Youโre despicable! You promised youโd never touch me after we married, and nowโฆ what the hell are you doing?โ Her voice dripped with venom.
โI misspoke,โ she admitted. โI never loved you. Youโre not my typeโa hot-headed maniac, a lunatic! If Iโd known you had a twin brother, I never would have married you!โ
Nathaniel felt as if breathing was painful. His composure wavered under her words. His large hand cradled her face, his fingertips brushing her lips. โKeep cursing,โ he whispered.
Tears welled in Ceciliaโs eyes. โNathaniel, if you have any decency, divorce me. Iโve returned your money. What more do you want?โ
Nathaniel bit her lips. Tears streamed down her face as she struggled against him, but he held firm. They fought, both tasting blood. Finally, he released her, a bitter smile playing on his lips. โSo you know what pain feels like? You had two sons with Calvin, faked your death, and disappeared for five years, while I only neglected you for three. Who really went too far?โ
Cecilia was stunned. Two sons? Had he found out about Jon?
Nathaniel, noticing her confusion, gently cupped her face. Leaning close, he whispered, โAfraid Iโll hurt them? How long can you hide them? One year? Five? Ten? Once I find them, theyโre as good as dead.โ
Smack! Cecilia slapped him.
His gaze turned icy. โIs it too much to ask for a child of our own?โ
Choked with emotion, Cecilia retorted, โI donโt want a child with you.โ
Her words cut him deeply. He didnโt hold back. โYou want a child with Nicholas, donโt you? You want to marry him? A sickly man like him is not worthy of you! You couldnโt possibly have children!โ
Cecilia was unaware Nicholas had returned to Tudela. She heard of his situation from Nathaniel for the first time.
โWhere is Nicholas?โ she wanted to askโwhy had he initially called himself Nathaniel? Where had he been?
Seeing her intense desire, Nathaniel understood heโd been the fool. โYouโre married, yet preoccupied with your brother-in-law. How could you even ask?โ His eyes reddened.
โIโve long stopped wanting to be with you,โ she stated.
Had it not been for the mandatory cooling-off period, they would have divorced long ago. Nathaniel silenced her, refusing to let her speak. Cecilia pounded his back, but he wouldnโt let go.
Outside, the cold wind howled. Knowing escape was impossible, Cecilia shielded her stomach, fearful for her childโs safety.
