Chapter 275: Severing Ties
At that moment, Cecilia resolved to sever all ties with Nathaniel.
The night brought a fierce storm, blanketing everything in a sudden flurry of snow. Cecilia, nestled in Nathaniel's arms, felt her throat dry and parched. "I want some water," she murmured weakly.
Nathaniel's eyes widened slightly as he reached for a bottle on the bedside table. The bite marks on his hand, shoulders, and his cracked lips were still clearly visible. He handed her the water; she took a few sips, feeling slightly better before a wave of nausea overwhelmed her.
"Ugh!" She couldn't bear it. She pushed Nathaniel's hand away and leaned over the bed, dry heaving. He rose and patted her back. "What's wrong?" he asked.
Cecilia pulled away abruptly. "Don't touch me!"
Nathaniel's hand froze. Cecilia turned, looking at him coldly. "You can leave now."
His face hardened. Ignoring her protest, he grasped her face. "I'm giving you an hour to pack. In an hour, we're going back to Tudela." He'd spent enough time here; he wouldn't indulge her further. Releasing her, he donned his bathrobe and left the room.
This time, Cecilia didn't consider running. Last night, she'd realized Nathaniel's relentless pursuit stemmed from their legal marriage. She called Vivian. "Vivian, are you familiar with divorce lawsuits?"
An hour later, Cecilia stood by the door, her suitcase packed. When Nathaniel emerged, his bodyguard followed. He'd been prepared to take her forcibly, but she was waiting patiently. Dressed in a suit and leather shoes, he approached. "Have you figured it out?"
"Yes," she replied indifferently.
Her suitcase was taken by the bodyguard as they boarded a vehicle for the airport. Unbeknownst to them, someone had been watching.
They arrived in Tudela at four o'clock. Cecilia, in a down jacket, stepped out into the falling snow, pulling her coat tighter. Just as Nathaniel reached for her, a voice called, "Ceci!"
Cecilia turned to see Vivian waving. It was Vivian's first time seeing Nathaniel in person; she'd only seen him in the media before. Tall and strikingly handsome, surrounded by bodyguards, he exuded an air of refinement.
Cecilia glanced at Nathaniel's outstretched hand, ignoring it. "A friend's here. I need to meet her."
Nathaniel, considering her willingness to return, decided against pushing her. "All right," he replied, withdrawing his hand.
Two bodyguards followed Cecilia as she walked toward Vivian. Nathaniel entered a car and headed to the company.
In the car, Vivian remarked, "Having seen Nathaniel, I understand why Jon is so handsome and intelligent." She produced a document. "Are you sure about taking Nathaniel to court? Here's the lawsuit."
