Chapter 313: They Are Back

In Sparaville, Cecilia ended her call with Vivian and turned to Nathaniel, who remained absorbed in learning Braille. "Did you hear the news?" she asked, unable to contain her curiosity.

Nathaniel didn't look up. "Yes," he replied, "Someone's impersonating me."

"Doesn't that bother you?" Cecilia asked, surprised by his composure.

He finally looked at her, his gaze steady. "All I want is to live a good life with you, to master Braille, so I can better care for you and our unborn child."

Cecilia's heart skipped a beat. Her hand instinctively went to her stomach. "What child?"

"My mother told me you're pregnant," Nathaniel said softly but firmly. "Don't worry; even blind, I won't let you or our child suffer."

Cecilia hadn't expected Elena to tell Nathaniel, especially given his amnesia. "The child I'm carrying isn't yours," she said coldly, trying to maintain her composure.

Nathaniel's expression faltered. Cecilia braced herself for an outburst, but none came. He gripped his book tightly. "Whose is it, then?" he asked, his voice calm but strained.

"It doesn't matter," Cecilia replied, hiding her turmoil. She turned to leave, but Nathaniel grasped her hand.

"If the father is unclear, it's my responsibility," he said with conviction. "I'll take care of you both."

Cecilia was stunned. His earnestness left her speechless. Seeing her hesitation, he continued, "If I could run a multinational corporation before my memory loss, I can care for you and our child now, even blind."

Cecilia pulled away, too exhausted to argue. "There's no need," she said. "Just take care of yourself."

Without another word, she hurried upstairs to her room and resumed composing music. Despite her wealth, she knew the future was uncertain. The Smith family fortune had once been vast, yet squandered in an instant.

As she worked, her phone rang. It was Norman.

"Mr. Jenkins."

"Ms. Smith, I've been trying to reach you," Norman said, his voice heavy with concern. He'd finally contacted her after extensive searching.

Cecilia had forgotten instructing Norman to return the money to Nathaniel. "I'm sorry, I forgot to contact you, Mr. Jenkins."

"No, I should apologize," Norman sighed.

"Is something wrong?" Cecilia asked, sensing urgency.

Norman sighed deeply. "I tried returning the money to Nathaniel, but he refused it. I planned to give it to you, but...a few days ago, your mother and brother returned to Tudela. They learned I had a large sum and sued me for embezzling your father's wealth. Now, eight billion is frozen."

Cecilia's heart sank. Paula and Magnus. She hadn't expected their return, let alone this action. If they won, Norman could go to jail.

"Mr. Jenkins, don't worry," Cecilia reassured him. "I have a record of the transaction. They won't win."

Reflecting, Cecilia realized much of the money came from an unknown benefactor. But now, she needed to clear Norman's name.

Norman's voice was filled with worry. "Ms. Smith, your mother and brother seem different. Be careful, and don't let them mistreat you."
