Chapter 333: I Will Not Expose Him
Bow down and apologize? Stella stood stunned by his demand, her limp hand clenching into a fist. If not for Cecilia and Sean's live video, leading to her disgrace, she would never have been so humiliated. Now, they demanded a personal apology.
Considering Nathaniel's tactics, she agreed. "All right, I'll go," she said, her voice barely concealing her bitterness. She barely remembered leaving Daltonia Villa; her mind was a blur.
After Stella left, Jocelyn voiced her confusion. "Mr. Nicholas, why insist on her apologizing to Cecilia? You've always opposed Mr. Nathaniel, and now you're defending his wife?" A chill ran down her spine as Nicholas's usually gentle gaze turned cold. "Jocelyn, you don't understand," he replied, his voice low and ominous.
Jocelyn, unaware of their history, didn't probe further. "Then I'll have someone ensure she apologizes."
"Sure," Nicholas agreed, his demeanor softening. They left Daltonia Villa soon after. Nathaniel and Mason entered through a secret passage.
Mason hadn't anticipated Nathaniel's original tunnel serving this purpose. Despite his amnesia, Nathaniel instinctively knew where the confidential files were hidden. He retrieved them quickly.
En route, Nathaniel handed the documents to Mason. Surprised, Mason asked, "Mr. Rainsworth, wouldn't you prefer to see them yourself?"
"I trust you won't betray me," Nathaniel said solemnly.
"Yes, sir," Mason replied, finally examining the documents. He realized Nathaniel's personal savings vastly exceeded appearances; his overseas funds dwarfed Orion Corporation's assets. Mason felt he'd chosen the right side.
"You can quit and start a new company," Nathaniel said calmly, leaning back. "I want to give Nicholas and Cecilia a grand gift before my child is born."
Mason, who had previously suggested this, knew they'd lacked funds. A new company would need to rival Orion Corporation.
"Understood," Mason agreed, his enthusiasm growing. He'd helped transform the Rainsworth Group into Orion Corporation; this new challenge was exciting.
As they drove, Mason buzzed with excitement, while Nathaniel remained composed. For him, starting a company was routine. Then, a call came. Thinking it was Cecilia, Nathaniel's eyes lit up. His joy vanished.
"Nathaniel, I presume you've followed the news," Elena's cold voice said. "Make a good life with Cecilia. Don't hesitate to call if you need anything. But don't expose your younger brother. He's the backbone of our family." Elena had decided to call after much consideration.
"Your grandfather wouldn't allow a blind man to run Rainsworth Group. I had no choice," she continued, feigning regret. No one would let a blind man control the group, yet they all feared the sighted Nathaniel. No one questioned the man on stage.
Nathaniel listened silently, his expression unreadable. He felt nothing for his biological mother, having no memories of her. Her justifications left him unaffected.
"I won't expose him," Nathaniel finally said, his voice cold and detached. "But I despise being replaced. I'll reclaim my identity. If necessary, I'll kill him. I refuse to live in hiding."
Elena was startled. "Nathaniel, how could you say such things? Nicholas is your brother," she choked out.
"As I said, I won't expose him," Nathaniel repeated firmly, hanging up. Elena found the amnesiac Nathaniel, who didn't recognize his family, terrifying.
