Chapter 344: Phonetic Translation Software

Upon seeing his upset mother, Jonathan panicked. He gently lifted his small hand, holding onto Cecilia and patting her back. โ€œMommy, my brother and I will never leave you, and we definitely wonโ€™t let anyone take us away.โ€

Listening to Jonathanโ€™s comforting words, Cecilia held him tight. โ€œThank you, Jon.โ€ Jonathan, usually coy and reluctant to be held, was enjoying his motherโ€™s embrace, though too shy to admit it. His face flushed. โ€œMommy, are we going to continue deceiving him? Let him continue to believe I am Eli?โ€

Cecilia hadnโ€™t expected such a thoughtful consideration from her young son. โ€œNo need, heโ€™s known for a long time that I gave birth to twins.โ€ She didnโ€™t want Jonathan deceiving anyone.

After a moment, Jonathan said, โ€œHow about this? I wonโ€™t actively tell him Iโ€™m Jonathan. Is that okay?โ€ โ€œSure,โ€ Cecilia replied. Mother and son had reached an agreement. Jonathan felt relieved, thankful for Ceciliaโ€™s understanding.

A knock came at the door. โ€œCeci.โ€ It was Martha. Cecilia opened the door, and Jonathan followed, greeting his grandmother. Martha, having heard voices earlier, wasn't surprised to see Jonathan. She smiled and took him to enjoy some food.

Cecilia then entered the living room, where Nathaniel sat waiting. โ€œNathaniel,โ€ Cecilia began, โ€œIf youโ€™re resting, itโ€™s not too late. We can discuss things, but I wonโ€™t ask for anything.โ€

Nathaniel fell into deep thought, his gaze lifting to meet hers. โ€œCecilia, didnโ€™t you say the child you bore wasnโ€™t mine?โ€

Cecilia was startled. Nathaniel paused. โ€œAdding one more to the mix wonโ€™t make a difference now. I know you gave birth to twins. You can bring the other child home. I can afford to take care of them.โ€

Cecilia could hardly believe this was the same prideful, aloof Nathaniel. Why would he agree to raise someone elseโ€™s child? When Cecilia remained silent, Nathaniel rose, approaching and reaching for her arm. โ€œArenโ€™t you happy to have him back? I thought youโ€™d miss him,โ€ he said gently. Cecilia, remembering his past indifference, pulled away.

โ€œYou donโ€™t have to do this. We were over a long time ago. The only reason weโ€™re still living together is because of your family.โ€

Cecilia went upstairs to prepare a childrenโ€™s room for Jonathan. Meanwhile, Jonathan enjoyed food with Martha, occasionally glancing toward his parents.

After Cecilia rested, Jonathan visited Nathaniel, who was working at his computer. The screen displayed dense lines of code, intriguing Jonathan. What was his deadbeat dad up to? Was he really blind to his son's abilities?

As Jonathan approached, Nathaniel lifted him from behind, gripping his shirt collar. โ€œDo you understand this?โ€

โ€œOf course I can understand it!โ€ Jonathan replied immediately.

Nathaniel was taken aback. Could such a young child know coding? โ€œThereโ€™s no need to boast. Even if you canโ€™t do it, I wonโ€™t mock you,โ€ he probed.

โ€œHmph, you underestimate me.โ€ Jonathan took over the computer, resuming his coding. He recognized the code as phonetic translation software, likely for those unable to read. Jonathan, engrossed in his work, didnโ€™t notice the subtle change in Nathanielโ€™s expression.
