Chapter 345: Coding Competition
During this period, Nathanielโs memory was gradually returning. He remembered coding as a child.
After Jonathan wrote a portion of the code, Nathaniel reviewed it and was surprised to find no errors. After all, Jonathan was still a child, not yet adept at concealing his brilliance.
โBy the time I reach your age, Iโm certain Iโll surpass you.โ
Nathaniel remained unfazed. โWeโll discuss it once you have.โ
An idea struck Jonathan. โLetโs have a contest. If you lose, youโll willingly leave my mother. Deal?โ
Nathaniel paused, his handsome brows slightly raised.
โAnd what if I win?โ
โThen, Iโll allow you to stay.โ
Nathaniel chuckled. โThis wager is far too unfair. Even without competing, I can remain here.โ
Jonathan hadnโt expected his father to be so quick-witted.
โWhat do you want?โ
โIf I win, youโll call me โDaddy.โโ
Jonathan was taken aback. How could he call his father โDaddyโ?
As he hesitated, Nathaniel mocked, โWhatโs stopping you? Itโs just โDaddy.โ Are you afraid of losing?โ
โWho says Iโm afraid? Letโs do it,โ Jonathan said, his face determined.
Cecilia, having finished tidying his room, entered the living room to find Jonathan and Nathaniel engrossed in their computers. How had they become so friendly?
โE-Eli, itโs bath time,โ Cecilia almost called out the wrong name.
She agreed with Jonathanโs earlier suggestion. If Nathaniel misunderstood, so be it; she planned to leave as soon as he regained his memory.
โMommy, wait a bit, rest first,โ Jonathan said, his eyes fixed on the screen.
โAll right.โ Jonathan had bathed himself since he was three.
An hour later, Nathaniel had breached Jonathanโs computer. Jonathan sat on the sofa, looking empty and vacant.
โI won,โ Nathaniel stated. His memory hadnโt fully returned; once it did, he would realize heโd just competed against the boy whoโd swindled him out of billions.
Jonathan hung his head. โโฆDaddy.โ
โI didnโt hear you; your voice is too soft,โ Nathaniel said.
Jonathan had no choice but to raise his voice. โDaddy!โ
Nathaniel stood, ruffling his hair. โGood boy.โ
The next day, Cecilia found Jonathan listless. When she asked what was wrong, he remained silent.
โMom, letโs not talk about it. Just take me to school.โ
โAll right.โ
Cecilia drove Jonathan to kindergarten, a few hours away from Tudela Preschool. Jonathan yawned incessantly, as if sleep-deprived.
โJon, are you still thinking about what happened with Daddy?โ Cecilia had meant to ask if he was pondering Nathanielโs paternity, but Jonathan misunderstood.
That man is a devil!
Seeing they were nearing the school, Jonathan said, โMommy, Iโm going to be late! I canโt talk anymore.โ
Cecilia didnโt press further, watching him disappear.
Inside, Felix and Dante immediately surrounded Jonathan.
โJon, why are you just arriving? Didnโt we agree to meet the handsome guys today?โ Jonathan had promised to play Vivianโs son and find her a man even more handsome than Ernest, to make Ernest jealous at the wedding banquet.
