Chapter 345: Coding Competition

During this period, Nathanielโ€™s memory was gradually returning. He remembered coding as a child.

After Jonathan wrote a portion of the code, Nathaniel reviewed it and was surprised to find no errors. After all, Jonathan was still a child, not yet adept at concealing his brilliance.

โ€œBy the time I reach your age, Iโ€™m certain Iโ€™ll surpass you.โ€

Nathaniel remained unfazed. โ€œWeโ€™ll discuss it once you have.โ€

An idea struck Jonathan. โ€œLetโ€™s have a contest. If you lose, youโ€™ll willingly leave my mother. Deal?โ€

Nathaniel paused, his handsome brows slightly raised.

โ€œAnd what if I win?โ€

โ€œThen, Iโ€™ll allow you to stay.โ€

Nathaniel chuckled. โ€œThis wager is far too unfair. Even without competing, I can remain here.โ€

Jonathan hadnโ€™t expected his father to be so quick-witted.

โ€œWhat do you want?โ€

โ€œIf I win, youโ€™ll call me โ€˜Daddy.โ€™โ€

Jonathan was taken aback. How could he call his father โ€œDaddyโ€?

As he hesitated, Nathaniel mocked, โ€œWhatโ€™s stopping you? Itโ€™s just โ€˜Daddy.โ€™ Are you afraid of losing?โ€

โ€œWho says Iโ€™m afraid? Letโ€™s do it,โ€ Jonathan said, his face determined.

Cecilia, having finished tidying his room, entered the living room to find Jonathan and Nathaniel engrossed in their computers. How had they become so friendly?

โ€œE-Eli, itโ€™s bath time,โ€ Cecilia almost called out the wrong name.

She agreed with Jonathanโ€™s earlier suggestion. If Nathaniel misunderstood, so be it; she planned to leave as soon as he regained his memory.

โ€œMommy, wait a bit, rest first,โ€ Jonathan said, his eyes fixed on the screen.

โ€œAll right.โ€ Jonathan had bathed himself since he was three.

An hour later, Nathaniel had breached Jonathanโ€™s computer. Jonathan sat on the sofa, looking empty and vacant.

โ€œI won,โ€ Nathaniel stated. His memory hadnโ€™t fully returned; once it did, he would realize heโ€™d just competed against the boy whoโ€™d swindled him out of billions.

Jonathan hung his head. โ€œโ€ฆDaddy.โ€

โ€œI didnโ€™t hear you; your voice is too soft,โ€ Nathaniel said.

Jonathan had no choice but to raise his voice. โ€œDaddy!โ€

Nathaniel stood, ruffling his hair. โ€œGood boy.โ€

The next day, Cecilia found Jonathan listless. When she asked what was wrong, he remained silent.

โ€œMom, letโ€™s not talk about it. Just take me to school.โ€

โ€œAll right.โ€

Cecilia drove Jonathan to kindergarten, a few hours away from Tudela Preschool. Jonathan yawned incessantly, as if sleep-deprived.

โ€œJon, are you still thinking about what happened with Daddy?โ€ Cecilia had meant to ask if he was pondering Nathanielโ€™s paternity, but Jonathan misunderstood.

That man is a devil!

Seeing they were nearing the school, Jonathan said, โ€œMommy, Iโ€™m going to be late! I canโ€™t talk anymore.โ€

Cecilia didnโ€™t press further, watching him disappear.

Inside, Felix and Dante immediately surrounded Jonathan.

โ€œJon, why are you just arriving? Didnโ€™t we agree to meet the handsome guys today?โ€ Jonathan had promised to play Vivianโ€™s son and find her a man even more handsome than Ernest, to make Ernest jealous at the wedding banquet.
