Chapter 364: When Did You Arrive

The Ms. Smith the secretary mentioned was Cecilia.

โ€œCecilia?โ€ Elena looked at her secretary, her mind racing with possibilities, but she never imagined Jonathanโ€™s father was Ceciliaโ€™s relative.

โ€œCould Jonโ€™s father be related to Cecilia?โ€ she asked.

The secretary thought it possible. โ€œCeciliaโ€™s mother and younger brother recently returned to Tudela.โ€

Elenaโ€™s expression froze at the mention of Paulaโ€™s return. โ€œThey wouldnโ€™t be trying to leech off the Rainsworths again, would they?โ€

The secretary explained that Paula had married a wealthy overseas businessman, an Evans, and was now financially secure.

Elenaโ€™s opinion of Paula remained unchanged; she saw her as a woman dependent on men. The conversation drifted, and Elena forgot about Jonathan.

โ€œBy the way, how is Nathaniel?โ€

โ€œMr. Nathaniel rarely leaves the house. He stays indoors.โ€ The secretary felt sympathy for the fallen Nathaniel.

Elena sighed. โ€œItโ€™s all because he didnโ€™t listen to me. If heโ€™d had a child sooner, I wouldnโ€™t have left him in that remote place.โ€ She also feared Nathaniel exposing Nicholasโ€™s false identity, which would jeopardize her position in the Rainsworth family.

โ€œTomorrow is Blue Christmas, right? Any new company plans?โ€

The secretary provided Elena with the latest event plans. โ€œMadam Elena, the renowned foreign composer, Ms. Cecille, recently released a trending song. Acquiring it would significantly boost Central Mediaโ€™s artists, for dramas or singers.โ€ Central Mediaโ€™s reputation had suffered after the Stella incident.

โ€œSure.โ€

The next morning, Cecilia dropped Jonathan off at preschool before returning to Sparaville, exhausted from her travels. Charlotte greeted her with good news. โ€œBoss, Orion Corporation wants your songโ€”โ€

โ€œOrion Corporation? Not Central Media?โ€ Central Media was a small subsidiary of Orion Corporation.

โ€œYes, Orion Corporation. Iโ€™ve got the contact information. Remember that mysterious big spender who offered a fortune? He wonโ€™t buy outright. Also, Cassandra has returned. If you want to collaborate with the Evans family, I can arrange a meeting.โ€

Charlotte had meticulously planned Ceciliaโ€™s schedule: Orion Corporation, the mysterious investor, then Cassandra. The financial disparity was obvious.

โ€œDonโ€™t worry, we have two days until Christmas.โ€ Cecilia paused. โ€œLottie, should we change our approach?โ€

โ€œWhat approach?โ€ Charlotte asked, confused.

โ€œIโ€™m thinking of releasing my own music. What do you think?โ€ Cecilia had the eight billion Nathaniel refused.

โ€œGreat idea! We used to do it all for the money.โ€

โ€œRight, release it first. If they want copyright cooperation later, we can discuss it then.โ€

โ€œAll right.โ€

After hanging up, Cecilia sank onto the couch, closing her eyes. A hand lifted her. She opened her eyes to see Nathanielโ€™s face.

โ€œGo to your room. Youโ€™ll catch a cold sleeping here.โ€

Nathaniel was annoyed. Heโ€™d been there for a while, heard her conversation, yet she hadnโ€™t noticed his arrival. She still doesnโ€™t care much about me, he thought.

โ€œI just got here,โ€ he lied.

โ€œOh.โ€ Cecilia brushed his hand away. โ€œIโ€™ll rest here. Donโ€™t worry.โ€

Nathaniel pulled her into his embrace. They hadnโ€™t seen each other in two days.
