Chapter 370: Is Someone Crying?
Magnus hadn't expected Cecilia's rejection and subsequent lecture. He gripped her shoulders tightly.
โWhy all the chatter if you won't help? I knew I couldn't rely on you. You're content with your downfall, yet expect me to follow suit and live a mediocre life? Absolutely not! I'm the grandson of the wealthiest man. I will restore the glory of Smith Corporation. You are unworthy of the Smith family!โ
He forcefully pushed her away. Cecilia staggered back, almost falling. A strong arm caught her.
โAre you okay?โ Nathanielโs deep voice was beside her ear. Cecilia was about to dismiss him, but it was too late. Magnus, his face confused, saw Nathaniel.
โNathaniel, whyโฆ why are you here? Since youโre here, why did you ask me to have my sister discuss things with you at Orion Corporation?โ Magnus couldn't reconcile the man before him with the one he'd encountered earlier.
Nathaniel didn't explain. โScram!โ he commanded coldly.
Magnus, his arrogance vanished, fled. A sharp pain began in Ceciliaโs stomach.
โNathaniel, my stomach hurts,โ she said, panic filling her eyes as she clutched his clothing. The pain was secondary; she feared for her child. She'd nearly miscarried Jonathan and Elliot.
Nathaniel held her close. โIโm taking you to the hospital immediately.โ
โOkay.โ
He called for a car, arriving in under a minute. En route, Cecilia clung to Nathaniel with one hand, the other gently on her stomach. Only those whoโve been pregnant understand that fear. Baby, you must hold on.
At the hospital, doctors examined Cecilia. Nathaniel waited outside, calling someone to investigate Magnus. He recalled Magnusโs wordsโthat he had sent Nathaniel to find Cecilia. Another version of myselfโฆ Isnโt that Nicholas? What does Nicholas want with Cecilia? Why canโt I remember anything? His memory remained incomplete.
Soon, the investigator called. โThis afternoon, Magnus visited Nicholas at Orion Corporation. The purpose is unclear, but he left smiling. Afterward, he drove straight to Sparaville.โ
Nathaniel understood. Ceciliaโs examination revealed signs of a potential miscarriage. Fortunately, sheโd arrived in time. Rest was crucial.
After thanking the doctor, Cecilia took the prescribed medication and went home with Nathaniel.
โThanks for today.โ Without Nathaniel, she might have fallen, with unimaginable consequences.
Nathaniel felt her hand on his clothes. He held her. โYouโre my wife. No need to thank me.โ His grip was firm and warm. She glanced at him several times before pulling away. Past trauma, perhaps, fueled her lingering fear; she didn't dare entrust herself to him again.
Chapter 370: Is Someone Crying?
The car ride was silent. Home at last, Cecilia helped Nathaniel out. At the entrance, she heard sobbing.
Is someone crying?
She quickly went inside, switching on the light.
