Chapter 398: I Will Make You Fall For Me Again

Cecilia went to make the bed, saying, "I'll sleep on the couch tonight."

Nathaniel furrowed his brows. "You're pregnant; you should be the one sleeping in the bed."

Cecilia hadn't expected such gentlemanly behavior. Considering her pregnancy and its inconveniences, she agreed.

After freshening up, Cecilia lay on the large bed, the faint scent of fresh linens filling the air. Nathaniel was sound asleep on the nearby sofa, his long legs awkwardly sprawled, lacking space to stretch. Although Cecilia had turned off the lights, sleep eluded her. Every time she closed her eyes, she saw Nicholas's warm, gentle face. Despite her doubts, she hesitated to voice her questions.

After what felt like an eternity, Cecilia finally fell asleep. The wind howled fiercely outside. She hadn't slept long when a nightmare jolted her awake.

"Nathaniel," she cried out instinctively.

A large hand immediately grasped hers. Nathaniel had reached her bedside. "What's wrong?" he asked.

Cecilia's heart raced; images from her dream resurfaced in her mind. She took a deep breath. "It's nothing, just a bad dream."

Nathaniel said nothing more. He pulled back the covers, climbed into bed, and drew Cecilia into his arms.

Cecilia protested, but then heard him say in a deep voice, "Don't be afraid, I'm with you." His words calmed her inexplicably. She said nothing, simply allowing him to hold her.

After a while, she asked, "Nathaniel, am I truly the only one you remember?"

A moment of hesitation flickered across Nathaniel's face, but he quickly nodded. "Yes."

Receiving his affirmative answer, she asked again, "Do you really like me?"

"Yes," Nathaniel replied without hesitation. The Nathaniel who had not lost his memory would never have admitted such feelings.

Cecilia leaned into his embrace, the thought solidifying that she should accept things as they were. After all, the doctor had said Nathaniel's chances of regaining his memory were slim. Could they simply continue like this?

"But you didn't like me at all in the past. If you regain your memory, would youโ€ฆ" Cecilia's voice trailed off.

Nathaniel noticed her loosening grip and held her tighter. "No, I love you. Regardless of whether or not my memory returns, my love for you will never change."

Cecilia clutched his clothes, silent for a while before speaking. "And what if I stopped loving you?" She considered giving Nathaniel a chance, motivated by their two children and the one she carried.

Nathaniel's body tensed slightly; his hand found her face. His Adam's apple bobbed. "Nonsense, how could you not love me?"

In the memories Nathaniel had recently recovered, it was all about Cecilia's love for him. His lips grazed her cheek, sensing her warmth. A smile played on his lips as he drew her closer, his voice brimming with contentment. "Even if you stop loving me, I'll make you fall for me again."

Cecilia had no idea what was going through Nathaniel's mind; she simply felt he had truly changed. As Martha had suggested, if things continued this way, they could indeed be together.

Lost in thought, Nathaniel, losing control, moved his lips from her forehead to the bridge of her nose, then to her lips, gradually descending.

When Cecilia finally came to her senses, she realized Nathaniel had removed all her clothes.

"Nathanielโ€ฆ"

Nathaniel immediately covered her lips with his hand, pulling her into his embrace, then remaining still. Only then did she realize Nathaniel was also naked. She quickly placed her hand between them, stating, "I don't want it."
