Chapter 399: Are They Living Together?

Only then did Nathaniel stop. After she fell asleep, he went to the bathroom and took a cold shower.

Meanwhile, servants escorted Elliot to an extraordinarily lavish children's room. After seeing off the guests, Elena hurried over, her face etched with concern.

"Jonathan, I'm so sorry to have kept you waiting," she said warmly. "Would you like something to eat?"

Elliot observed her beauty and graceful aging, despite her being well into her fifties. The image of a wicked old woman didn't fit his perception. Despite his inner reservations, he greeted her with feigned enthusiasm. "Grandma Elena, I've missed you. What took you so long?"

He stood, clinging to Elena's thigh and rubbing his runny nose against her. Elena was startled; it was the first time Jonathan had shown such dependence.

"I'm so sorry, dear. I shouldn't have left you alone. You wouldn't believe how eager I was to see you as soon as I heard you were coming."

A flicker of surprise crossed Elliot's heart. Elena's adoration for Jonathan was astonishing.

"Really?" Elliot asked, a pitiful expression on his face.

"Of course," Elena assured him. "Why did you visit suddenly? Did your mother give you a hard time? If you'd like, you can stay with me. I'll treat you well."

Elliot was considering learning more about the Rainsworth family. "All right, I'm willing."

A wide smile spread across Elena's face. She immediately instructed her secretary to arrange larger accommodations for Elliot, among other things. Elliot found her attentiveness peculiar. She didn't know he was her grandson, so why her kindness?

"Grandma, I'm tired. I want to sleep."

"All right, get some rest."

Elliot clutched her clothes. "Grandma, can you stay here? I'm scared."

"Sure." Elena readily agreed. Watching the child, a miniature Nathaniel, she felt a deep fondness. However, Elliot kept her busy throughout the nightโ€”demanding water, assistance to the restroom, and more. She barely slept.

Elliot found Elena's patience peculiar. How had this "iron lady," renowned for her scathing public remarks and criticisms, become so agreeable? He'd seen her news reports and interview videos; numerous female celebrities had been the target of her sharp tongue and actions. Online, her image was far from beloved.

Meanwhile, Nicholas spent the night listening to Jocelyn recount news from the Rainsworth residence.

"Last night, Cecilia and Nathaniel were ridiculed on their way home, but they didn't let it bother them," Jocelyn reported, admitting a hint of envy for their unwavering love.

After a sip of coffee, Nicholas asked, "Are they living together?"

"Of course," Jocelyn replied, finding his question odd. They were married, after all.

Nicholas gazed at the brightening sky. "I want to go for a walk."

"All right, I'll get your coat."

Nicholas's health was delicate; he needed to avoid chills. However, he'd left before Jocelyn returned with his coat. He walked through the snow, unconsciously heading toward Nathaniel's residence.

Cecilia also rose early, preparing Nathaniel's clothes for their morning departure.

"Hurry and get dressed; we need to go home. Jon and Eli are still there," Cecilia said.

"All right," Nathaniel mumbled, barely awake.

While washing and brushing her teeth, Cecilia stepped onto the balcony, gazing at the snowy scene. There, in the snow, she spotted a tall figure.
