Chapter 460 Choosing His Words Carefully
Jonathan carefully chose his words, referring to Paula as his โbiological grannyโ rather than simply his โgranny.โ Cecilia, already suspecting Jonathanโs online encounter with Paula, was momentarily speechless.
Before she could respond, Jonathan interjected, โMommy, if Grandma isnโt nice to you, I wonโt acknowledge her. If she bullies you, just tell me; Iโll protect you.โ
Watching the video call, Cecilia felt a wave of relief at Jonathanโs serious expression. โDonโt worry,โ she reassured him. โI can handle myself. No one will bully me. Meanwhile, stay close to Ms. Kennedy and avoid causing her any trouble.โ
A blush crept onto Vivianโs face. She had been the one causing Jonathan trouble. Without him, she wouldn't have known how to handle the elders' questions, and it was only because of Jonathan that her father treated her kindly.
โDonโt worry,โ she added. โJon is even more sensible than we adults.โ
Vivian was about to speak when a knock interrupted. Reluctantly, she told Jonathan to hang up. Opening the door, she found Zachary, still in his white lab coat, freshly returned from the hospital.
โIs something wrong?โ Vivian asked, noticing his unchanged clothes. There must have been an emergency.
โGrandpa asked me to take you to get our wedding photos taken,โ Zachary said.
Vivian frowned. โWeโre not even engaged yet. Why the rush?โ She had expected their engagement and marriage to take at least six months, but the current pace suggested otherwise.
โGetting the photos and customizations will take over half a month. Grandpa wants it all done before the New Year,โ Zachary explained impatiently. He looked at Vivian, still surprised she was to be his wife, unable to fathom his grandfather's thinking.
With the New Year only two weeks away, Vivianโs anxiety increased. โHow about we wait until after the New Year? Itโs cold out.โ
โNo,โ Zachary firmly cut her off. Then, turning to Jonathan, he said, โHey, brat, want to come along?โ
Jonathan glared at him with disdain. โNo.โ
Everyone insisted the child wasn't his, but Zachary, despite being a doctor, couldn't shake the feeling Jonathan might be his son. The boyโs cold rejection left Zachary feeling small and defeated. He touched his nose, confused. Is this boy really my flesh and blood? Why do I feel so intimidated by him? The only other person who had ever made him feel this way was Nathaniel.
Dismissing the thought, Zachary turned back to Vivian. โNo need to change your clothes, letโs go.โ
Reluctantly, Vivian quickly reminded Jonathan, โJon, if anything comes up, call me.โ
โOkay,โ Jonathan replied, watching them leave. Once they were gone, he immediately sat down at his computer, determined to find any negative information about Paula. But his efforts yielded littleโonly trivial matters of no real consequence.
โMy dear Jon, what are you up to? Time for school,โ Georgeโs gentle voice came from behind. The old man had quietly ascended the stairs unnoticed.
Jonathan quickly shut down his computer and turned. โOkay.โ
Previously, Jonathan had been driven to and from kindergarten in ordinary cars. Now, as the Sinclair familyโs great-grandson, the fleet of cars collecting him resembled a wedding procession.
It was an extravagant display Felix had never experienced, not being Nathanielโs son. But Jonathan, Zacharyโs future heir, enjoyed a completely different status.
