Chapter 475 The Confrontation

โ€œAll right, who do you want to meet? Iโ€™ll go with you,โ€ Cecilia said immediately. She dared not let Martha out of her sight.

โ€œIโ€™m just going to Wandaโ€™s in the neighboring town. She has a new grandchild, and I want to visit. You stay home and work on your music; you donโ€™t need to come,โ€ Martha said gently.

โ€œNo, the doctor said you need to rest.โ€ Cecilia tightened her grip on Marthaโ€™s hand.

โ€œSilly girl, Iโ€™m fine. Remember what the specialist said? I have four or five years left,โ€ Martha said, deceiving her. โ€œAnd Wanda doesnโ€™t like outsiders. Iโ€™m probably her only friend, and youโ€™ll both feel uncomfortable if you come.โ€

Cecilia considered Marthaโ€™s recent confinement. She clearly needed company. Cecilia nodded.

โ€œAll right, Iโ€™ll drive you,โ€ she offered.

โ€œSure.โ€

Cecilia felt relieved once they agreed.

When Elliot returned and learned of Marthaโ€™s injury, he quietly questioned the caregiver, discovering his grandmother was responsible. Enraged, he called Jonathan. โ€œJonathan, did you teach that woman a lesson?โ€

Jonathan was confused. โ€œWho?โ€

โ€œThat witch of a grandmother, of course.โ€

Jonathan understood. โ€œI found Paulaโ€™s account was empty. Her husband, Ralph, has all the money. Thatโ€™s why Iโ€™ve been targeting his company.โ€

Elliot gave a thumbs-up. โ€œJon, youโ€™re amazing.โ€

Jonathan, usually just โ€œJonathan,โ€ was amused by the change in address. โ€œAll right, Iโ€™m hanging up.โ€

โ€œBye.โ€

Elliot then visited Martha; their laughter echoed through the house. Cecilia helped the chef prepare a nutritious meal. Listening to their laughter, she felt joy.

Nathaniel returned to a harmonious scene. Heโ€™d been extremely busy, secretly handling Rainsworth Group collaborations, unaware of Paulaโ€™s visit.

The next morning, Cecilia drove Martha to Wandaโ€™s. Martha, reluctant to leave, simply said, โ€œDrive safely.โ€

โ€œI will.โ€

Martha watched Ceciliaโ€™s car disappear, then hailed a cab. โ€œSir, to Tudela, please.โ€ En route, she made up her mind.

At the Evans residence, Martha spoke to the housekeeper. โ€œPlease tell Paula her former nanny is here.โ€ Offering a tip, she ensured her message was delivered. Soon, she was admitted.

Inside the luxurious residence, Paula demanded, โ€œWhat are you doing here?โ€

Martha glanced at the housekeepers. Paula dismissed them.

Martha confronted her. โ€œI know you stole Mr. Smithโ€™s money.โ€

Paulaโ€™s hand trembled, spilling tea. โ€œDid Cecilia tell you?โ€

Martha stepped closer. โ€œIโ€™m here for Cecilia. Return her money, or I swear, I will kill you!โ€ She produced a knife, pressing it to Paulaโ€™s throat.
