Chapter 515: An Eyesore
Those at the dining table were startled. This was the first time anyone had dared to call Felix selfish. Miranda, protective of her son, felt disgruntled, but Elliot was younger even than her own son, making it difficult to defend Felix. Though arrogant and domineering, Felix was not foolish; he immediately recognized Elliot's insult.
โYou unwanted child, how dare you insult me!โ
Elliot, unswayed, continued, lips pursed. โDonโt get mad. Iโm just being honest. Didnโt your teachers teach you manners?โ
Cecilia was speechless. She had warned Elliot earlier not to talk too much. Seeing the children argue, she felt it inappropriate to intervene, merely shooting Elliot a warning look.
Elliot ignored her, daring Felix with a raised eyebrow. Seeing Jonathan's double in Elliot, Felix hesitated to strike him. He threw a fork, intending to hit Elliot, but instead struck Niel.
Niel was furious. โAdrian, Miranda, is this the son youโve raised? After I asked you to teach him this morning? Heโs leaving the table. And all of you, get out of my sight!โ
Adrian and Miranda, their faces souring, were effectively dismissed. Miranda, grabbing her son, retorted sarcastically, โLetโs go. We wouldnโt want to be eyesores here.โ
However, Felix refused to leave. โGreat-grandpa, he insulted me first.โ
Miranda slapped him. โNow that Elliotโs back, itโs not your place to speak.โ
Felix burst into tears.
Adrian attempted to shift blame. โGrandpa, arenโt you being biased? This child has only been here a few days. We donโt even know if heโs truly a Rainsworthโฆโ
Nathaniel interrupted, his voice deep and somber, โWhat did you say?โ
Adrian, remembering a chilling past incident, fell silent. Nathaniel continued, โYouโre all adults. The child may be unwise, but why are you acting the same? Who was at fault?โ
Cecilia was surprised by Nathaniel's defense of Elliot. Elliot, equally stunned, stared at his father. How could his blind father still hold such authority?
Adrian and Miranda remained speechless. Nicholas then spoke, โAdrian, Miranda, Felix needs to change. Outsiders would say the Rainsworth family is ill-mannered.โ
Miranda felt a sharp pang of resentment. She maintained a composure concealing her bitter thoughts.
Cassandra, unexpectedly supporting Ceciliaโs son, added, โAdrian, Miranda, children are headstrong. He'll accomplish great things. What's the use of a boy who doesn't make a fuss?โ
While initially calming things, this implied Elliot's quiet nature would render him useless. Elena, aware of the implication, interjected. She tolerated no disparagement of her grandson.
โCassandra, youโre mistaken. Nathaniel and Nicholas were always sensible, and they turned out exceptional. Cultivating such qualities is crucial.โ
