Chapter 528 Already Dead
After comforting Cassandra, Queenie went outside. The orphanage director offered a kind expression. “Madam Queenie, thank you for your support over the decades. I’m truly sorry I couldn’t be of more help.” Queenie’s disappointment was evident.
“Perhaps she’s already dead,” she murmured.
The director attempted to reassure her. “If the child hasn’t been found, she must still be alive. Don’t lose hope. I’ll contact you immediately if I receive any information.” Queenie nodded.
After Queenie left, a teacher commented, “Madam Queenie has been searching for her daughter for over twenty years. How could she have lost her child in the first place?”
The director sighed. “Madam Queenie had a very difficult life then. She wasn’t as wealthy and powerful as she is now. The child was left at our orphanage door in the dead of winter, right after birth. If I hadn’t found her, she would have frozen to death.”
“So why can’t she find the child now?” the teacher wondered.
“The child was adopted, but the adoptive parents provided false information. They likely didn’t want the biological parents to find her,” the director explained.
After giving birth, Queenie suffered severe hemorrhaging, rendering her unable to conceive again. Escaping the Jamieson family’s grasp wasn't easy. She later underwent plastic surgery abroad and built a business empire. Upon returning, she reclaimed the original Jamieson Group. Those who had wronged her met terrible fates.
Sitting in her car, Queenie examined the photos Cassandra had sent, her grip tightening on her phone. Though Cassandra wasn't her biological daughter, Queenie considered her as such. Cassandra was everything to her. Anyone causing her daughter suffering would pay. She called a subordinate: “Stop all current collaborations with the Rainsworth family.” Nicholas had recently aligned himself with the Rainsworths, yet dared to mistreat her daughter?
Chapter 528 Already Dead
After giving her instructions, Queenie considered how to make Cecilia suffer. She learned Cecilia had two sons abroad.
At Daltonia Villa, Elliot awoke from a nap to find blood on his pillow. He touched his nose, feeling something sticky. His condition had recently worsened. He didn't want Cecilia to know, so he removed the pillowcase, tossed it, and cleaned himself in the bathroom. If Mommy finds out, she’ll probably send me to the hospital. That’s really painful.
Cecilia, busy composing, was unaware of Elliot's worsening condition. Nathaniel emerged from the study, hearing rustling from the bathroom. “Ceci?”
Elliot frowned.
“It’s me, not Mommy.”
“What are you doing in the bathroom?”
“I wet the bed, so I’m washing my underwear. Mr. Rainsworth, do you want to help me wash them?” He decided to lie.
Nathaniel entered, lifted him, and placed him outside, then threw the soiled items in the trash. “Why bother washing it? Just throw it away if it’s dirty!”
Elliot was speechless. That was true.
“Is there anything else you need help with?” Nathaniel asked.
“Can you also throw away the bed sheets and duvet cover?” Elliot asked, knowing there was blood on them.
Without comment, Nathaniel disposed of the bedding. Elliot planned to blame Nathaniel if Cecilia discovered the blood.
“Oh, and don’t tell Mommy. She’s quite frugal,” Elliot added.
“Okay.”
For some reason, Elliot felt a pleasant sense of shared secrecy with his father.
