Chapter 530: What Did I Do?
After hearing Nathanielโs words, Cecilia bit his arm. She didnโt apply much pressure, but it still hurt. Nathaniel gently patted her back. โWhat did I do in my dream?โ
Cecilia slowly released him, her throat hoarse. โYou asked me to abort the children.โ
โSilly, that wonโt happen.โ Although Cecilia didnโt admit it, he was sure they were their children. How could he bear to have Cecilia abort their children?
Cecilia looked up. โNathaniel, promise me that even if you recover your memory, you wonโt harm my children, Jon and Eli. Okay?โ
โOkay, I promise. If I hurt the children, Iโll die a horrible death.โ
Nathaniel was about to confess his recovered memory, but hesitated. What if she left? She was staying out of pity for his amnesia and blindness.
With his promise, Cecilia felt reassured and fell asleep in his arms.
On the other side, Stella spent the night drowning her sorrows after Ceciliaโs reply. Her friend Yvette found her surrounded by empty bottles. Worried, Yvette asked, โStella, why did you drink so much?โ
Stella hugged Yvette. โYvie, what should I do? Nathaniel doesnโt like me anymore. No one likes me.โ Sheโd invited Yvette to a high-society party; Nathaniel and Zachary ignored her, and Nicholas was too dangerous. She needed a new, powerful man. Nicholas had mentioned Nathaniel might be at the party, but hadnโt given her an invitation, threatening to abandon her if she couldnโt secure one herself.
Seeing Stellaโs distress, Yvette comforted her. โStella, donโt be sad. Youโre outstanding. Plenty of men would love you; you can find someone better.โ Yvette never believed Stella was a bad person.
Stella nodded. โBut right now, I donโt know where to meet someone who loves me.โ
โThereโs a party tonight. Iโll give you my invitation. Those men wonโt be able to ignore you.โ Yvette, already engaged, disliked such parties.
Stella was grateful. โYvie, thank you so much.โ
โWeโre friends; no need for formalities.โ
After receiving the invitation, Stella prepared early. Mason arrived at Daltonia Villa to deliver another invitation.
โMr. Rainsworth, this yearโs party is hosted by the Murdocks. Mason Murdock, their eldest son, personally delivered the invitation. I think he has ulterior motives.โ The Rainsworths and Murdocks were rivals, and Mason was particularly cunning, often betraying them. Though his methods were underhanded, his influence had peaked. His brother, Francis, outwardly pleasant but sleazy, was secretly involved with many actresses, despite his engagement to Yvette.
Nathaniel, initially uninterested in parties, was intrigued by Masonโs words. โLetโs see what heโs up to.โ
