Chapter 547: Who Are You?

Ceciliaโ€™s eyes narrowed, and a wave of nervousness washed over her.

โ€œWhat did you say? Who are you?โ€

The man didn't answer, only mocking, โ€œYour sonโ€™s been missing all night, and you donโ€™t even know. Careless, wouldnโ€™t you say?โ€ He then hung up.

Missing all night?

Cecilia immediately thought of Elliot and called him.

At Daltonia Villa, Elliot had just finished breakfast when his mother called. Curious, he answered, โ€œMommy, did you find Mr. Rainsworth?โ€

Elliotโ€™s voice instantly calmed Ceciliaโ€™s frayed nerves. She hadn't realized it wasn't Elliot, but Jonathan, who was staying with the Sinclairs, who had been taken.

โ€œEli, are you alright at home?โ€

โ€œIโ€™m fine, why?โ€ Elliot replied, confused.

โ€œItโ€™s nothing. Iโ€™m glad youโ€™re okay. Just stay inside with the housekeeper, okay?โ€ Cecilia urged.

She dismissed it as a prank call.

Awakening in an old, deserted factory, Jonathan looked around. He was alone, though he could see figures patrolling near the gate. He overheard one of them calling Cecilia.

Then Jonathan understood: he'd been kidnapped, and not because of yesterday's incident.

He furrowed his brow slightly and yelled, โ€œI need to use the restroom!โ€

Scarface, one of the men outside, opened the door.

โ€œWhatโ€™s the yelling for? Just pee your pants,โ€ Scarface said impatiently.

Jonathan recognized the voiceโ€”the man whoโ€™d called his mother.

โ€œPeeing my pants is dirty. Besides, itโ€™s cold. Iโ€™d freeze, and then how would you get the ransom?โ€

Seeing Jonathan was just a child, Scarface sneered, โ€œWho said anything about ransom? Does your mother even have that much money?โ€

They werenโ€™t after a ransom?

โ€œMy mommy doesnโ€™t have much money, but my daddy does,โ€ Jonathan replied, widening his eyes. โ€œIf youโ€™re not doing this for money, why kidnap me? On TV, kidnappers always ask for money.โ€

Scarface laughed, patting Jonathanโ€™s shoulder. โ€œKid, donโ€™t blame me. Your mother offended someone, and I was hired to teach her a lesson.โ€

Jonathan was puzzled. Mommy offended someone?

โ€œMy mommyโ€™s really nice. Who did she offend?โ€

โ€œYouโ€™re trying to get information, arenโ€™t you?โ€ Scarface looked suspicious.

Realizing his mistake, Jonathan quickly feigned ignorance. โ€œMister, what does that mean?โ€

Scarface, finally dismissing his suspicions, said, โ€œDidnโ€™t you need to pee? Come with me.โ€

Though chatting with a child seemed harmless, Scarface avoided revealing too much.

After letting Jonathan relieve himself, he tied him up again upon returning to the factory.

Hours passed, and Cecilia hadn't called. Scarface found this odd.

โ€œDoes she not care about her sonโ€™s life?โ€

His clientโ€™s instructions were to teach Cecilia a lesson, but how could they if she didn't seem to care?

Scarface looked at the innocent boy. Checking the photo again to confirm they had the right child, he waited.

โ€œMister, Iโ€™m bored. Can I play with your phone?โ€ Jonathan asked; his smartwatch had been confiscated.
