Chapter 548 Pretty Clever
Scarface immediately refused. โYouโre trying to use my phone to call the police, arenโt you? Kid, youโre pretty clever,โ he sneered.
โMister, I just want to play a game, not make a call,โ Jonathan replied, his eyes full of sincerity.
Scarface wasnโt easily fooled. โShut up. Say another word, and Iโll sew your mouth shut.โ
Jonathan, having no choice, looked around for an escape, but found none. He was just a child, and dealing with Scarface and his associates was daunting. His only option was to try and get a message to Zachary about his location. Zachary and the others were likely still searching, as Jonathan hadn't returned last night. However, with Scarface's mercilessness, accessing any communication devices was impossible. He needed another way, perhaps through the other people involved.
At Sinclair Manor, chaos erupted. Upon learning of Jonathan's disappearance, George issued a strict order: find Jonathan, no matter the cost, even if it meant turning Tudela upside down. โWho dares to go against the Sinclair family? If I find out whoโs behind this, Iโll skin them alive!โ he declared viciously. He then turned on Zachary. โThe kid was in the bathroom for two hours, and you didnโt even bother to check on him! How careless can you be?โ
Zachary was distraught. He'd bonded with Jonathan, and the child was Nathaniel's son. If Nathaniel learned of this, Zachary knew he would be the one skinned alive. โIt was my oversight,โ he mumbled, frowning. โBut itโs strange. If they kidnapped a child, isnโt it usually for ransom? Why havenโt they called for money?โ
โCould it be an enemy of yours?โ George pressed.
Farhan had more enemies than even Nathaniel. Zachary's expression darkened. If it was one of his enemies, Jonathan might already be dead.
Zachary pulled a visibly flustered Vivian aside. โRegardless, we should inform Nathaniel first.โ
โTell Nathaniel?โ Vivian gasped.
โWhat else can we do? Our familyโs search is taking too long. If the Rainsworth family joins in, weโll find him, even if itโs just his body.โ
Vivian's face paled. โThis is all your fault! If you hadnโt been so careless, Jon wouldnโt have been taken. I regret it so much. I shouldโve gone with you last night! Itโs all because you didnโt let me!โ She had wanted to accompany them, but Zachary had refused, wanting to avoid attracting attention.
โHow was I supposed to know something like this would happen?โ he muttered. Heโd always been single-minded, never fearing to offend anyone. But now, fear gripped him.
As he dispatched people to investigate his old enemies, he nervously called Nathaniel. โWhatโs the matter?โ Nathaniel asked.
โNathaniel, I lost your son.โ
Nathaniel and Cecilia had returned home. Hearing Zacharyโs words, he was momentarily confused. Then, seeing Elliot, he understood. โYou mean Jon?โ
โYes. Yesterday, I took him to the party, and while I went to the restroom, someone kidnapped him.โ
Nathanielโs expression hardened. The call Cecilia had received about a missing childโit wasn't about Elliot; it was about Jonathan. โI understand. Donโt tell Cecilia yet. Iโll send my men out immediately.โ
