After Magnus left, the nurse changed the dressing on Cecilia's face. Nathaniel soon returned to pick her up for discharge.

Once seated in the car, he said, “I’ve already sent someone to investigate that man. If he’s in Tudela, we’ll hear something soon.”

Cecilia nodded. She had also personally requested Sven assign investigators to Cassandra and Miranda.

They arrived at Daltonia Villa. Elliot immediately embraced Cecilia. “Mommy, is Jon okay?” The online news had gone viral.

Cecilia reassured him, “Jon is fine. He’s with Mr. Zachary and Ms. Kennedy.”

Elliot finally breathed a sigh of relief. Noticing the bandage on Cecilia’s face, he asked, “Mommy, what happened?”

Worried about his concern, Cecilia lied, “I scratched myself. It’s nothing serious; the doctor said it’ll heal soon.”

Elliot, ever meticulous, remained skeptical. Knowing further questioning would be fruitless, he said, “Mommy, be careful.”

Cecilia nodded. Elliot then turned to Nathaniel. “Mr. Rainsworth, please refrain from wandering off at night. It was difficult finding you.”

Nathaniel, more patient with Elliot than usual, replied, “All right.” He still pondered Cecilia’s words after Jonathan’s incident: our son… Though she hadn't mentioned it since Jonathan's rescue, the words remained etched in his memory.

Are Jon and Eli both my children? Mason's initial DNA test showed no blood relation. Could the test have been flawed? Nathaniel decided to have Mason retest.

That evening, after Elliot slept, only Nathaniel and Cecilia remained. Cecilia, calmer now, said, “Thank you for saving Jon.”

Nathaniel, having already given Elliot’s sample to Mason, didn’t question the children’s relation to him. Instead, he asked, “Does your word still hold?”

Cecilia paused, recalling her promise: as long as Jonathan was saved, she wouldn't mention divorce. She nodded. “Yes.”

However, she continued, remembering Scarface’s threat, “Jon’s kidnapper threatened me to leave Tudela.”

A call from Niel interrupted. “Why wasn’t I informed? How’s the child?” Niel demanded.

“He’s fine.” Elena had also inquired earlier. They all assumed something had happened to Elliot.

“Have you found the culprit?” Niel pressed.

“Not yet.” Niel suspected the Rainsworth family's side branches. “They’re ignoring you,” he said, suggesting their motive was to eliminate a potential heir.

Nathaniel, already instructing Mason to investigate, agreed. Niel then suggested bringing Elliot to the Rainsworth residence for safety and better education.

Nathaniel tersely refused, knowing Cecilia would never consent.

Cecilia, sensing the gravity of Nathaniel’s phone call, guessed they wanted Elliot moved.

Nathaniel approached, asking, “Tired? Go to sleep.”

“All right.”

After washing up, Cecilia lay down, the day’s perilous events replaying in her mind.
