Chapter 563 The Pop Star
Cecilia was unaware that Nathaniel already knew she was a professional composer abroad. He'd noticed her reluctance to disclose this and hadn't pressed the issue. Nathaniel's previous rejections only intensified his worry that she might be attracted to a younger, more charismatic man.
Before dawn the following day, he went to the office and instructed Mason to investigate Eric Palmer. He'd completely forgotten his promise to take Elliot to the office.
Mason replied, "Mr. Rainsworth, Eric is the recently returned pop star. We're planning to recruit him."
Only then did Nathaniel recall the name. "How's that progressing?"
Mason answered frankly, "Eric's unlike other male celebrities. We haven't determined his preferences; he values his freedom and dislikes intrusions, which is why he's declined previous offers. However, we're investigating his interests and should be able to approach him soon."
Nathaniel was unconcerned about persuading Eric to join the company. "Is he truly that exceptional?"
Mason, startled, explained Eric's standing: "He boasts over fifty million fans on one platform alone, nearing one hundred million internationally. While some figures might be inflated, no male celebrity his age rivals his popularity, even with paid promotion."
Nathaniel tapped the table lightly. "How long would it take to cultivate a comparable star?"
"At least two to three years," Mason replied, puzzled by Nathaniel's sudden interest in star-making. "It would be incredibly time-consuming." Nathaniel prioritized efficiency and valued individuals based on commercial worth, recruiting directly when appropriate.
"What does he look like?" Nathaniel asked.
"Exceptional. In my opinion, he surpasses all other male celebrities in our country." Most relied heavily on makeup, but Eric, of mixed heritage, possessed naturally excellent genes. His physique alone outshone his peers.
Nathaniel's unease deepened upon hearing the description. Calvin was one thing, but now a celebrity? "The person who met Cecilia yesterday was him," he said slowly.
Mason's eyes widened. "Mrs. Rainsworth knows Eric?" He'd been fretting over recruiting Eric; if Eric was willing to meet Cecilia, negotiation should be easier, he thought.
"He's merely an entertainer. What's so significant about knowing him?" Nathaniel rebuked, viewing actors as mere commodities. Only those with genuine value merited his attention.
Mason finally understood Nathaniel's jealousy. "Should we still try to recruit him?"
"Of course."
"Alright."
As Mason prepared to leave, his secretary knocked. "Mr. Sanders, Mr. Rainsworth, Mr. Ernest is here." Ernest was Vivian's ex-boyfriend, whom Nathaniel had employed to handle his divorce from Cecilia, promising him a high-paying position.
"Let him in," Nathaniel said.
Ernest, impeccably dressed, entered, his expression cold as he presented legal documents related to various company acquisitions. "Mr. Rainsworth, everything is settled. Those companies won't cause further trouble."
Ernest's efficiency was undeniable. To secure a foothold in certain Tudela industries, Nathaniel had acquired numerous problematic small companies; years ago, Ernest had flawlessly handled the situation.
