Chapter 615: The Competition to Stand Out

Initially, Cecilia believed acquiring the shares would be challenging. However, she purchased them for three times the market price, surpassing Niel and becoming the largest shareholder of the international preschool with a fifty-four percent stakeโ€”all before midday.

Once the paperwork was completed, Erwin personally escorted her to the door, and Sven drove her to Rainsworth Manor. Niel and Wren's family occupied the east wing, while Robert's family resided in the west wing. Following Liam's directions, Cecilia proceeded to Miranda and Adrian's residence in the west wing.

After a ten-minute drive, she arrived. The manor's opulence was evident from a distance. Stepping from the car, Cecilia found refreshments already arranged on the lawn. The mothers, impeccably dressed, were beginning to gather. Even the usually plainly dressed Priscilla wore expensiveโ€”though outdatedโ€”jewelry. Consequently, she was largely ignored.

Priscilla, awaiting Cecilia's arrival, noticed her unusual attire before approaching. Cecilia's wealth was clearly evident; from head to toe, every item she wore was worth at least half a million. The difference between a prominent family member and the average CEO was stark.

Whispers filled the air: "Aren't there only two of those handbags in the world? My husband couldn't source one for me." "I noticed her bracelet too. It's worth five million!" "Her clothes are custom-made; you need to book a year in advance!" "Ms. Miranda's most expensive bag is just over two million, but Ms. Cecilia's is at least three or four million!"

The mothers' admiration was palpable. Cecilia, aware her decision had been correct, even glanced pointedly at Miranda. Miranda, herself elegantly dressed, paled in comparison. Cecilia's possessions were precisely what the other mothers desired. Miranda clutched her wine glass tightly.

"You really went all out for today's gathering, Ms. Cecilia," she said, her tone dripping with sarcasm.

The other mothers fell silent. Cecilia approached, amusement twinkling in her eyes. "You flatter me, Ms. Miranda," she replied, casually tossing her bag onto a chair. The other mothers instinctively reached for it.

Ignoring Miranda's icy stare, Cecilia turned to the others. "I forgot to introduce myself yesterday. I'm Cecilia, Jonathan's mother. I hope for your continued support."

Everyone wished to connect with Cecilia, but Miranda's presence inhibited them. Priscilla, however, spoke up. "You're too courteous, Ms. Cecilia. We all know you. Jonathan is the smartest child in class, after all."

Miranda's displeasure was immediate. "Mrs. Veymar, are you implying Felix isn't as smart as Jonathan?"
