Chapter 614: I Want To Be the Largest Shareholder
Cecilia spent some time browsing Priscillaโs Instagram, filled with pictures of Dorothy and motivational quotes. Cecilia discerned that Priscilla was unemployed, penniless, and dominated by her mother-in-law.
While browsing, Cecilia noticed a message in their group chat: โIs everyone free this Sunday? Letโs gather at my place,โ Miranda wrote. Miranda, when not traveling for work, often hosted gatheringsโpartly from boredom, partly vanity. She specifically tagged Cecilia. Cecilia knew Miranda intended to humiliate her further if she attended.
Priscilla was the first to respond: โSure, Ms. Miranda, looking forward to meeting you.โ It was midnight, yet Priscilla responded promptly. Others replied sporadically. Before Cecilia could respond, Priscilla texted her: โMs. Cecilia, this is a great opportunity! Foster a closer relationship with Miranda.โ It was a chance to meet the parents' association, so Cecilia replied, "I will, thank you for the reminder," though she had no intention of befriending Miranda. In the group chat, she added, โOkay, see you tomorrow.โ
Cecilia then called a renowned clothing brand, arranging for an immediate air freight delivery of a gown. She provided her measurements, specifying that it needed only to be wearable; money was no object. Using her black card, she also purchased a handbag one mother admired, along with bracelets and jewelry others coveted. Cecilia wasn't trying to please them; she understood the art of gifting required finesse. Lavish initial gifts could backfire.
The following morning, Cecilia dropped Jonathan off at Sinclair Manor. Vivian gasped at Ceciliaโs outfit. โOh my goodness, this bag is a global limited edition, only two exist! How did you get it, Ceci?โ
โDo you like it?โ Cecilia asked.
Vivian nodded enthusiastically. Despite her engagement to Zachary and her good relationship with George, she would never ask the Sinclair family for money.
โIโll give it to you after today. Do you mind?โ Cecilia offered.
Vivian was deeply touched. โHow could I mind? Itโs worth over three million, and youโre only using it for a day?โ
โYep, I have a use for carrying this purse.โ
Cecilia left, and Vivian noticed Cecilia's entire ensemble showcased her wealth. โJon, whatโs up with your mom today? Wrong medication?โ Vivian asked Jonathan, knowing Cecilia disliked luxury goods. Jonathan, equally puzzled, suggested, โDonโt women have those few days?โ Vivian playfully reprimanded him.
Cecilia invested in the preschool that morning. Erwin greeted her. Cecilia stated her intention: โI intend to become the preschoolโs largest shareholder. Please contact the other shareholders. Iโm willing to buy their shares at the highest price.โ
