Chapter 624: He Hit Us First
Having researched the previous night, Cecilia knew the child before her was Conrad. His mother, Camila, possessed an impressive, even voluptuous, figure and a delicately elegant face, perfectly made up. Curiously, Conrad's father was absent; Camila was his mistress.
"Ms. Camila," Cecilia retorted, "if you suggest a disabled child should hide, shouldn't a mistress's son remain out of the public eye?"
Cecilia, having recently faced a life-threatening situation, was determined to make her enemies pay dearly. The parents and teachers reacted with disdain. Oscar, however, appraised Cecilia with predatory interest, considering how to make her his own. Anisa, aware of her husband's intentions, sharply pinched his hand.
Meanwhile, the internet erupted. Netizens buzzed: "This isn't staged, is it?" Another commented, "Google these parents! Famous entrepreneurs! Camila's a former car model who recently argued online with her lover's wife!" A third added, "No way this is staged. They're big shotsโwhy would they put on a show?"
The live broadcast unexpectedly surpassed ten million viewsโa feat unimaginable for most influencers. Jon, unconcerned with viewership, discreetly texted Zachary for help, fearing Cecilia might be bullied. Since his previous hostage ordeal, Zachary had an emergency contact device; a single press summoned him regardless of location.
Despite the accusation, Camila remained unfazed. "So what if I'm a mistress? My son lives better than ninety-nine percent of children." Her brazen response solidified Cecilia's belief that her son wouldn't have initiated the altercation.
Ignoring Camila, Cecilia crouched beside Jonathan. "Jon, tell Mommy what happened."
"After the restroom, four kids cornered me and tried to attack. They started it; I defended myself," Jonathan explained succinctly, omitting Felix's involvement to avoid further complications.
Cecilia asked, "Were you hurt?" Jonathan shook his head. "They're no match for me." Relief washed over Cecilia.
Some adults questioned their children: "Did you start it?" A child, influenced by Felix, denied it, claiming, "He hit us first!" The others echoed this, accusing Jonathan of initiating the fight.
Cecilia didn't immediately defend Jonathan. "You say Jon hit you first. How?"
Caelum stepped forward. "We four went to the restroom and accidentally blocked Jon. He hit us all."
Anisa interjected, "Why didn't you fight back?" Caelum choked back tears.
Cecilia smirked. "Why didn't you fight back? Let him beat all four of you?" She didn't believe their story, especially given their similar ages. Caelum, clearly coached, explained, "The teacher told us not to fight."
