Chapter 65: Could He Be His Illegitimate Child
The number of eyes on him steadily increased, and Zachary felt he would soon become the center of attention. To the uninformed, it would appear he was bullying a child. He briskly walked toward the restroom. Jonathan immediately dropped his pretense, snapped a picture of the disheveled Zachary, and followed him into a suite.
Nearby, Elena noticed the child, her heart softening. Taking a sip of her wine, she turned to Stella. โWhat a lovely child, so understanding and polite. Iโm sure any child of Nathanielโs would be just like him.โ Only with a small child did Elena's usually cold demeanor soften. Stella knew the older woman was urging her to become pregnant.
Reaching his temporary room, Zachary called Arnold for a change of clothes. Arnold arrived shortly. โMr. Zachary, your clothes are on the table.โ โAll right, you can go.โ โUnderstood.โ Arnold left, unaware a child hid behind the couch. Few dared intrude into Zachary's room.
Zachary showered. Listening to the running water, Jonathan crept out, took Zachary's clothes and phone, and tossed them from the third floor. "This is for Mommy!" He then sabotaged the room's communication devices before leaving.
Reaching the lobby, Jonathan collided with a man. โIโm sorryโฆโ he apologized, looking up into the chilling gaze of his father, Nathaniel. Nathaniel felt an inexplicable sense of familiarity. โItโs okay,โ he responded coldly. Jonathan fled.
Even after leaving the hotel, his heart pounded. He hadn't expected to see Nathaniel. Thankfully, he wore a mask and cap. Meanwhile, Zachary, having finished his shower, was furious. His clothes and phone were gone, and the room's communications were disabled. He ventured out in a bath towel, borrowing a phone to call his assistant.
After a search, the bodyguard retrieved Zachary's belongings. โMr. Zachary, do you think someone was trying to harm you?โ Arnold asked, shaken. Someone had broken into Zachary's room. Zachary frowned. โI donโt think so. If someone wanted to harm me, wouldn't they do more than discard my clothes and phone? Such childish actionsโฆโ He paused. โWait a minute, a childโฆโ
He thought of the masked child who offered him a drink, his wide, innocent eyes. His expression darkened. Could this be the result of his past indiscretions?
โIโll have someone look into it,โ Arnold offered.
โWait!โ Zachary stopped him. โNo need to investigate further.โ If the boy was his illegitimate son, he would find him again. He couldn't pursue this openly; George finding out wouldn't be good. Arnold, though perplexed, nodded. He then added, โMr. Zachary, I have results regarding the matter you asked me to investigate this morningโฆโ
