Chapter 77 He Never Liked Her
Stella never expected that after four years training as a singer and four more establishing herself as an A-list celebrity, a single song and a single day would catapult her to stardom. Watching her assistant bring in endorsement offers from renowned brands, she couldn't hide her excitement. Even one of these international endorsements was something other celebrities spent decades pursuing.
Her happiness was short-lived. Her assistant hurried over. "Stella, Ms. Cecille's company claims our song is a rip-off. They demand we remove it, apologize, and compensate them."
Stella frowned. She hadn't anticipated being discovered so quickly. It was a song from abroad; if it was copied, so be it. Few engaged in international lawsuits; they were time-consuming and draining.
"What plagiarism? Ask them to present evidence before making accusations," Stella scoffed. With her current resources and the Rainsworth family's support, would a small foreign company dare sue her? Even if they did, they couldn't win.
Cecilia knew Stella wouldn't admit to plagiarism. Her instruction to email Central Media was primarily to publicly demonstrate she'd warned them upon the song's release.
It was Friday. Cecilia had gone to the headquarters. She planned to meet Jonathan in the evening and spend the weekend with him. At that moment, it was break time at preschool. Jonathan had charmed Felix, the eldest Rainsworth grandson, last time. Now, Felix answered honestly.
While fiddling with an eraser, Felix confidently replied, "Of course."
"My mother told me I'm the Rainsworth family's eldest grandson. Everything they own will someday be mine."
Jonathan was skeptical. "But I heard your Uncle Nathaniel is the current head of the family."
Felix was visibly upset. "My uncle doesn't have a son. My mother said he hasโฆ issuesโฆ that's why he can't have children." He lowered his voice. "My mom also said, once my uncle dies, his inheritance will be mine."
"Oh," Jonathan mused.
Felix quirked an eyebrow. "Jonathan, as long as you're with me, you'll live comfortably."
It was unclear whether he'd learned that from his mother or television. Jonathan feigned disbelief.
"Everyone brags. The Rainsworth family has many assets, but I doubt it'll all be yours. Your Uncle Nathaniel is young. He'll surely have children. I even saw on the news he's marrying a female celebrity. Once they marry, she'll bear him a child. Then, you won't be the most cherished grandchild anymore."
Felix was flustered. He flung putty and yelled, "Nonsense! My mom said my uncle can't have children!"
Jonathan teased, "What if your mom lied?"
Felix, after thought, lowered his voice. "You're not allowed to tell anyone. My uncle never even liked Ms. Ross."
Jonathan grew serious. "Who told you that?"
