Chapter 79: The Rainsworth Manor
Cecille was moved. "Thank you, Vivian."
"No need for formalities," Vivian replied. "Remember that blind date? I need your help again." Attending such events was Vivian's least favorite thing. Before her planned travels abroad, Roland frequently dragged her to social gatherings, hoping to secure a wealthy son-in-law. She was utterly exhausted by it.
"Okay."
Vivian urged her on. "This time, win over Nathanielโthe jerkโand get his baby!"
"Right." It was a shame Cecille had almost succeeded last time. She needed to plan carefully for the next day. A sudden thought struck her. "Do you think Stella will attend Old Mr. Rainsworth's birthday banquet?" she asked Vivian.
"Of course," Vivian responded instantly. "She wouldn't miss an opportunity to curry favor with the Rainsworths and insinuate herself into their household."
Cecille smiled. "This time, we can give Stella a grand gift."
The next day, Jonathan awoke early. Niel's birthday celebration was at ten. Jonathan's early rising stemmed from his worry that Cecille might discover Felix had invited him. Cecille had prepared a gift for his friend, unaware that Jonathan's friend was Felix, the Rainsworth family's eldest grandson. Jonathan dared not tell her; she would undoubtedly forbid him from going to Rainsworth Manor. He casually used other classmates' names instead.
Jonathan and Felix agreed to meet at the kindergarten entrance. Soon, a Lincoln limousine arrived, dwarfing Jonathan. The car door opened, and Felix, with a proud smirk, quipped, "Your family doesn't own a car like this, does it?"
"Yeah," Jonathan replied, "the most expensive car we have is only worth a few million."
Felix pulled Jonathan onto the seat beside him. "Follow me from now on. When you're older, I'll give you one."
"Let's talk when you're in a position to make decisions," Jonathan countered.
Felix was instantly displeased. "What do you mean? That I don't make decisions at home? You'll see my status when you get to my place."
During their time at kindergarten, Jonathan had witnessed Felix's importance to the Rainsworth family. Each day, different luxury cars picked him up and dropped him off, accompanied by at least a dozen bodyguards. Rainsworth elders would also personally collect him whenever they were free. Throughout the journey, Jonathan endured Felix's boasts about his extravagant lifestyleโprivate jet, personal amusement park, and so on. Jonathan didn't envy him, knowing he would have everything he desired when he grew up.
Finally, they arrived at Rainsworth Manor. Guests hadn't yet arrived. The manor was vast, covering over twenty thousand square metersโthe size of three World Cup soccer fields. It seemed endless, too large to explore in a single day. Some structures resembled ancient castles; it was said a single beam could buy several Rolls-Royces.
Jonathan followed Felix from the car, greeted immediately by a housekeeper. He gazed at the opulent manor. Deep down, he was impressed by his "scumbag daddy." His research revealed the Rainsworth family's prominence wasn't always so absolute; Nathaniel had expanded the family business significantly after taking over. "Isn't my house grand and beautiful?" Felix exclaimed. "Let me tell you, all this will be mine in the future!"
