Chapter 155: Saying Goodbye
"Firustied! I don't need your charity. You should stuff it up your ownโ" Raylee spat.
Alaru furrowed his brows. โRay-Ray, at the end of the day, I have raised you for eighteen years, provided you with a life of luxury, and never mistreated you. Why do you speak to me so harshly?โ
Kayleeโs lips quivered. All the rage in her heart had transformed into a bitter sting. "Ever mistreated me? Then what was that declaration of disownment four years ago? What about the four years I spent in jail in place of your biological daughter? Where were you when I was suffering in prison?โ
Alaric spoke somewhat helplessly, โKay-Ray, I let you down during those four years, but my hands were tied by the dilemmaโ"
Raylee let out a soft chuckle. โYour dilemma was always about sacrificing me to preserve the interests of the Goodridge family. Be it four years ago or now, youโve always treated me like a tool for profit. So, could you drop the caring father act? Itโs disgusting when youโre faking it.โ
โNo matter what, your journey to Musmeynia this time is also for the sake of the Goodridge familyโ" Alaric began, but Raylee interrupted.
โSaving Jeremiah had nothing to do with the Goodridge family. I did it purely for my own survival. Donโt flatter yourself, and never in this lifetime think of using me as a tool again!โ
Exasperated, Kaylee chose not to waste any more words on him. She turned and headed toward the security check.
โRay-Ray, could I hold you, just like when you were littleโฆ?โ Alaricโs voice wavered as he called out to her.
Raylee paused momentarily but didnโt acknowledge him and continued walking forward. A hint of redness lined the rims of Alaricโs eyes. The innocent and adorable little girl who, in her childhood, always wanted him to hold her, had ultimately vanished from his world.
Kaylee waited at the boarding gate until she boarded the plane, but she didnโt see Casimir, nor did she receive any messages from him. She decided not to bother him and turned off her phone before heading toward Totresh.
As soon as she got off the plane, she was met by two robust men. They were bodyguards hired by Layla, and they were to accompany her to Musmeynia.
Just as they left the airport, they were intercepted by a man dressed in a suit and tie, clutching a briefcase, looking professional.
โMs. Goodridge, greetings. Iโm Bradley Kline. Mr. Sutherland has assigned me to protect you,โ the bespectacled man said.
Raylee was taken aback. Casimir sent him; Casimir probably wonโt be coming. She recalled his promise to her at the airportโas he still broken his promise to me and abandoned me in my time of need.
At that moment, Kaylee felt a profound sense of defeat. She had lost to Waverly.
Tucking away a trace of sadness in her heart, Raylee gave Bradley a nod. โI appreciate it.โ
Right then, there were three bodyguards present, and none of them appeared to be ordinary.

As long as they stayed close to her, her safety would be ensured. This was the only solace that Raylee could offer herself.
โNo need for formalities, Ms. Goodridge,โ Bradley said. โLetโs set off now. According to their instructions, we need to head to a dock in Musmevnia for the rendezvous.โ
The group then boarded an MPV, setting off toward the dock.
No sooner had Raylee stepped out of the vehicle than she felt a sudden darkness envelop her vision, as an unknown person slipped a hood over her head. At first, she could hear the sounds of a few bodyguards struggling. However, soon enough, she was dragged onto a ship that sailed toward an unknown destination.
She couldnโt see anything, and no one responded to her words. It felt as if she had fallen into a bottomless abyss. The helplessness and despair she felt simply deepened her fear.
An indeterminate amount of time had passed before the hood was removed from Rayleeโs head. Only then did she realize she had been brought to an industrial park.
Across the vast open space, there were numerous buildings. Each floor of these buildings had windows that were thoroughly sealed off by thick security grilles. The surrounding walls were covered with a dense electric fence.
At this point, it was already the dead of night. Every now and then, chilling screams would pierce the silence, enough to makeโUpon witnessing this scene, Raylee felt a profound sense of fear radiating from her very being.
The atmosphere there bore a striking resemblance to a prison. With its towering walls and electric fences, it felt equally suffocating. Arriving at a place like this, escaping was virtually impossible even if one was superhuman.
Kaylee realized that she was already in Musmeynia.
โWhere is Jeremiah?โ she anxiously asked the person who had brought her there. However, she was just ignored.
Instead, a man with a lazy appearance and a large black mole near his eye, Eideon, was eyeing her with ill intentions.
Kaylee took a step back, forcing herself to calm down. She was well aware of what she was about to face. Finding herself alone in such a godforsaken place was akin to being thrown to a pack of wolves. Not only was her life hanging by a thread, but her dignity was also under threat.
Under such circumstances, she had long been prepared to end her life. Rather than endure torment, she would rather die.
