“Wrap up the Blue Arctic Star right away! I’m planning to gift it to Mom for her birthday, so make sure to package it luxuriously,” Waverly instructed the store manager.

“All right, Ms. Goodridge. Please wait a moment,” the store manager promptly brought the necklace into the break room to pack it.

Raylee followed the store manager into the break room and asked, “Does your store offer consignment services?”

The store manager nodded and asked, “Are you intending to consign this necklace, Ms. Somers? How much do you plan to set the price at?”

Raylee extended three fingers. “Three billion.”

The store manager gasped in surprise. “Three billion? Would Ms. Goodridge be able to foot the bill?”

Raylee raised an eyebrow. “Didn’t she mention that her family agreed to her purchase? The Goodridge family is loaded. For the sake of their reputation, she would have to buy it even if she didn’t want to!”

The store manager was taken aback. Turning a profit of one and a half billion in an instant? Ms. Somers truly is a business prodigy!

Ten minutes later, the store manager brought out the Blue Arctic Star, neatly packaged.

“How much does this necklace cost?” Margaret asked.

The store manager raised three fingers, but before she could speak, Waverly assumed it was three hundred million. Without hesitation, she handed over her card.

With the audacity of a nouveau riche, she boldly declared, “Whatever the price is, go ahead and charge my card!”

Casimir bought her a diamond ring worth over eighty million, and in return, she gifted him a necklace valued at three hundred million, doubling the initial amount. This time, I’ll have gained all the respect I could ever want! Perhaps it could even be a smashing success, propelling her, the daughter of the Goodridge family, to fame throughout Jexburgh.

The store manager, with a smile, took the card to swipe it. However, the screen flashed with a notification stating that she had insufficient funds. The store manager furrowed her brows, saying, “Ms. Goodridge, the price tag on this necklace is three billion, but it seems your balance falls short!”

“What? Three billion?” Waverly was taken aback. “Did you misspeak? Perhaps you added an extra zero by mistake?”

“That’s not possible. The Blue Arctic Star is our store’s flagship piece and is clearly and fairly priced. Would you like to use another card, Ms. Goodridge?” the store manager said with a beaming smile.

Forget about using another card. I wouldn’t be able to come up with three billion even if I used a hundred different cards!

Waverly was taken aback. The bravado she had shown earlier was now replaced by an equal measure of deflation. The people around her watched as she deflated like a balloon, joining in the spectacle.

The store manager deliberately pointed out Waverly’s weak spot by asking, “Judging by your reaction, it seems you can’t afford the three billion, Ms. Goodridge. No worries at all. If you don’t have the money, then there’s no need to pay. After all, not everyone is destined to be connected with Blue Arctic Star.”

Margaret’s expression turned gloomy instantly. She had anticipated that Blue Arctic Star would be expensive, but she hadn’t expected it to reach such an exorbitant level. However, the price was within reason as Charming Jewelry was the most renowned jewelry store amongst the high society of Jexburgh. There were only five stores worldwide, one of which was located in Jexburgh, specializing in luxury items. The materials used to create each piece of jewelry were specially sourced and of the highest quality. As the flagship piece of the store, the Blue Arctic Star was certainly worth the price tag it had. However, it was hard to say whether the buyer would find it worthy of the price. If Waverly hadn’t bought her this necklace today, she would have become the laughingstock of Jexburgh.

“What, are you implying that I can’t afford this necklace? Clearly and fairly priced, you say? I think you’re just jacking up the prices on the spot! Get your manager out here! I want to see how exactly are your sales associates trained! To think you’d dare highball your customers like this… I’m going to file a complaint against you!” Waverly retorted defiantly, determined to hold her ground even if it meant twisting the truth.

Her single comment sparked a wave of soft laughter from the surrounding crowd. Margaret and Casimir immediately found themselves in an awkward situation. Just a while ago, Waverly had already embarrassed herself once, and now, she’s doing it a second time! Does she think we’re as thick-skinned as her?

“Waverly, if you can’t speak properly, then you might as well stay silent! Does a jewelry store of this caliber really need to jack up prices? If you don’t buy it, there are plenty of others who will!” Margaret said irritably.

The manager continued with a smile, “I happen to be the manager here, Ms. Goodridge. If there’s anyone you wish to complain about, feel free to register it over here. I will relay your feedback to the headquarters.”

“You’re the store manager?” Waverly was seething with anger as she continued, “A necklace worth three billion? Isn’t that blatant daylight robbery? I’ll pay three hundred million for it, no more! Now, wrap it up!”
