Chapter 116 Husband

Olive felt sweetly content. She'd realized Elvis was adept at coaxing. Pamela had already opened the door, spotting the screen and heading towards it.

โ€œMr. Augustine, why are you here? What are you doing here?โ€

As Pamela neared the screen, Olive, frightened, quickly pinched Elvis. He felt a playful tickle. Compared to Olive's nervousness, Elvis remained calmly handsome, simply saying, โ€œStop!โ€

Pamela halted, not daring to move closer. โ€œIโ€™m here with an urgent document. Is there anything you need?โ€

Pamela found it difficult to even look at Elvis, let alone be near him. Now, sharing the room, her heart raced.

โ€œMr. Augustine, did you and Olive break up?โ€ Pamela bravely asked.

Behind the screen, Elvis glanced at Olive, who nodded vigorously. He was silent a moment, then pointed to his cheek, indicating a kiss. Olive, needing his compliance, tiptoed and kissed his face.

โ€œYes, we broke up,โ€ Elvis replied to Pamela.

Pamelaโ€™s excitement was evident. โ€œPresident Augustine, Iโ€™ve always wanted to tell youโ€”youโ€™re not suitable for Olive. Sheโ€™s always had a boyfriend; my parents neglected to discipline her. She was with you only for your money; she didn't truly like you.โ€ She paused, but he offered no counterargument.

โ€œMr. Augustine, from the first day I saw you, I fell deeply in love. But I know we inhabit different worlds, and I donโ€™t measure up. Iโ€™ve striven to improve myself, and Iโ€™ve remained faithful to you. My heart truly belongs to you, my love.โ€ Pamela paused for breath.

โ€œWhile you and Olive were together, I could only conceal my feelings. Now that you've broken up, I wonโ€™t suppress them again. President Augustine, I like you. Please, give me a chance?โ€

Olive, unexpectedly witnessing Pamela's confession, was almost moved. She looked to Elvis, anticipating his response, but he remained silent and unfocused.

โ€œMr. Augustine, are you listening?โ€ Pamela asked.

His continued silence made her suspicious.

Olive clenched her fist and jabbed Elvis. โ€œAre you dumb?โ€

He raised his lips slightly and whispered, โ€œCall me your husband.โ€

Was he exploiting the situation? Pamela's anxiety outside intensified.

โ€œMr. Augustine, are you alright? Should I come in?โ€

Pamela slowly approached the screen. Oliveโ€™s heart pounded. Nervously, she whispered, โ€œHello?โ€

Elvis remained unmoved, repeating, โ€œCall me your husband.โ€ Terrified, Olive mumbled, โ€œMy husband.โ€ A sweet smile graced his lips as he kissed her forehead. Releasing her, he turned and left.

Pamela stopped, her gaze tender as she watched him go. โ€œMr. Augustine, did you hear what I said?โ€

He casually replied, hand in his pocket, โ€œIโ€™ll give it some thought.โ€

Though not an immediate acceptance, Pamela was happy. She smiled cheerfully. โ€œIโ€™ll await your reply. Thereโ€™s something else: Itโ€™s Oliveโ€™s and my birthday in a few days; we share the same birthday. My parents are throwing a party for both of us, and Iโ€™m inviting you.โ€

โ€œAlright,โ€ Elvis responded coldly.

Pamela was surprised by his ready agreement. โ€œMr. Augustine, thank you, Iโ€™m very happy.โ€

He glanced at her. โ€œJust be happy. Iโ€™ll give you a surprise on your birthday.โ€

Surprise? What surprise? Pamela felt joy arriving in her life.

The Hartsโ€™ family celebrated the news. Monica jumped from the sofa. โ€œPamela, President Augustine really broke up with Olive? And heโ€™s attending your birthday party?โ€

Pamela smiled. โ€œMom, itโ€™s true.โ€

โ€œAwesome! You share a birthday. President Augustine will celebrate with you! The media will love this!โ€ Monica squealed.

โ€œPamela, with a little more effort, youโ€™ll marry Elvis and become the young mistress of the Augustine family!โ€ Monica daydreamed.

Patrick was ecstatic. He pulled Pamela onto the sofa, giving her a thumbs-up. โ€œPamela, youโ€™re truly my daughter. Iโ€™m so proud. I know I can always count on you.โ€

Pamela enjoyed the praise. โ€œDad, this birthday party will be a city sensation! President Augustine will be there, so you should invite Oliveโ€™s โ€˜ghostโ€™ husband. Wouldnโ€™t that be fun?โ€

Monicaโ€™s eyes lit up. โ€œPamela, thatโ€™s a great idea! Your father and I will invite him today.โ€

Patrick, though reluctant to visit the Red Villa, was willing for Pamelaโ€™s happiness and the prospect of becoming Elvis Augustineโ€™s father-in-law.

Patrick and Monica arrived. The gate remained closed, so they waited. The maid informed Old Lady Samantha.

โ€œMaโ€™am, the young mistressโ€™s parents are here again. They want to throw a birthday party and invite the young master.โ€

Old Lady Samantha, roused from her nap, turned to Mr. Henry. He shuddered, looking at her pitifully.

โ€œPlease, Maโ€™am,โ€ he pleaded.

โ€œGo meet them,โ€ she ordered.
