Chapter 127: Kneel, Pamela

Gregโ€™s face was ashen. Divine didn't want to waste another second on him. She passed him and walked toward the pharmacy. Olive stood at the door, her bright eyes registering surprise and warmth as she saw Divine. Divine's heart warmed, and she ran forward.

"Olive!"

Olive hugged Divine, then stepped back to properly assess her. "Divine, how much did you lose? I just saw you surrounded like a celebrity! Divine, how have you been? You're so beautiful."

Divine blinked, a lively sparkle in her eyes. "Olive, this is all thanks to you. Your recipe was truly effective. Thank you so much."

"No, no need to thank me. You put in all the effort."

The girls chatted happily, but Greg felt numb. Initially, he'd been proud of Divine's transformation, but now, ignored by her, his pride vanished. Students erupted in laughter, mocking him.

"It seems Divine really doesn't like Greg anymore."

"Honestly, Divine endured so much from Greg. I hope she doesn't give him another chance."

"Now that Divine is so beautiful, I'm sure many boys will be after her."

Greg clenched his fist, humiliated by his colleagues' whispers. Then, someone yelled, "Look, Pamela is here!"

Though the tension had eased somewhat, it was the students' first sight of Olive and Pamela since the incident. Pamela looked haggard, far from her usual glamorous self. The black dress she wore only emphasized her distress.

Greg rushed to her side. "Pamela, are you alright?"

Pamela shook her head, speaking softly, "Greg, I'm sorry I implicated you in my mess."

She looked truly pitiful. Greg quickly replied, "Pamela, don't do this. You're not guilty of anything."

Pamela turned to Olive, her pale face betraying a flicker of fear. "Olive, this is all my fault. I apologize. Please forgive me. Don't blame my family and friends; please don't hurt them."

Olive hadn't anticipated such a pitiful display. "Pamela, so you're playing the innocent victim, right?"

Pamela took two steps forward, tears welling in her eyes. "Olive, I truly don't know what I did wrong. Please tell me."

"President Augustine and I are old acquaintances. As you know, President Augustine spent a million dollars to help Hart's Medical. He's charming, handsome, and rich. I admit I admired him deeply, but we maintained professional boundaries. Liking him isn't a crime," Pamela sobbed. "The internet mocks me, but everyone knows I didn't know you and President Augustine were married. You know this too."

"Olive, why didn't you tell me you were Mrs. Augustine beforehand? Then I could have gotten over my feelings for Elvis. Dad threw a birthday party for me, and you chose to humiliate me publicly. Did you hate me that much?" Pamela paused, her voice choked with sobs. Her pitiful appearance instantly garnered sympathy.

Divine felt her anger flare. She stared at Pamela with disgust, recognizing the masterful performance. Divine wanted to intervene, but Olive held her back. Olive stared intently at Pamela, her expression unwavering. Pamela's tears couldn't mask her cold calculation.

"Olive, I know you hate me. You know Dad sent you to the orphanage. It's all my fault. I'm on my knees!"

With a thud, Pamela knelt. Gasps rippled through the students. Olive, however, remained unsurprised. Pamela was just as she rememberedโ€”capable of anything to achieve her goals, and public kneeling was the least of her actions.

"Olive, I'm on my knees. I've received threats from your fans. Some threatened to find and harm me. I'm terrified. Please forgive me."
