Chapter 130: Blind Date
โOlive, are you telling the truth?โ North asked incredulously.
Olive remained silent. She knew she was telling the truth, nothing more, nothing less.
โOlive, so you mean that at fifteen, you were personally invited to study abroad by the principal of the Holy Nile Academy? Pamela only got in because of Mr. Augustine. Youโre really annoying, you know? That was a lifetime opportunity.โ
Olive pondered.
โPamela and I have different paths in life.โ
โI wonโt talk to you anymore. I canโt believe this,โ North added.
Olive smiled and put away her phone. Divine rushed over, gasping,
โOlive, this is bad. Pamela, Pamelaโฆโ
โDivine, slow down. Youโre out of breath,โ Olive said, patting Divineโs shoulder.
โOlive, why are you so calm? Pamela just brought Professor Ruger from Holy Nile Academy. Director Hudson is with him.โ
Pamela brought her mentor to the Ivory Council?
Olive poured a glass of water and gave it to Divine. โHere, drink some water.โ
Greg approached, radiating confidence. The gloom had vanished from his face. He sneered at Olive.
โOlive, Professor Ruger is here and wants to see you. Director Hudson told me to invite you to his office.โ Greg glared at Olive before leaving.
Divine tugged Oliveโs sleeve. โOlive, that professor really likes Pamela. Heโll definitely humiliate you.โ
Olive replied calmly, โDivine, donโt worry. Iโll go meet them in a while.โ
โOlive, Iโll go with you!โ Worried, Divine quickly followed.
They left. Marvin, who had been sleeping on the table, slowly opened his black eyes and sat up. His subordinate, Phil, approached.
โSecond master, are you awake?โ
Marvin picked up a medical book and flipped through it lazily. He looked up and asked Phil, โIs Aunt coming over?โ
Phil replied respectfully, โAunt is the principal of the Holy Nile Academy. She has a lot of work, but I heard Madam discussing your bride with her on the phone; she hasnโt been found yet. Aunt seems to want to introduce you to a talented girl. They want you both to go on a blind date.โ
Marvin immediately tossed his medical book onto the table. Phil was too frightened to speak.
Olive and Divine arrived at Director Hudsonโs office. Hudson was greeting Professor Ruger. Pamela, in a pink dress and nude makeup, stood beside him. The atmosphere was warm.
Olive knocked and entered. โDirector Hudson, did you send for me?โ
Oliveโs arrival instantly changed the atmosphere. Professor Ruger scrutinized her.
โAre you Olive?โ
Olive met his gaze. โYes, Professor Ruger, I am Olive.โ
Professor Ruger snorted. โIt seems youโre a celebrity now, even more famous than most. Youโre married to the CEO of Augustine Corporation and have become a wealthy young lady. Oh my, I came all this way to see you.โ A medical practitioner like Professor Ruger wouldnโt read gossip; Pamela must have spoken badly about Olive.
Hudson coughed. โOlive, please pour Professor Ruger a cup of coffee.โ
โOkay, sir.โ Olive poured coffee for Professor Ruger.
โHow old are you?โ Professor Ruger asked.
โI just turned twenty.โ
โTwenty? A twenty-year-old girl from a good family would be focusing on her studies. Whatโs your major? Whoโs your tutor?โ
Generally, a twenty-year-old would be in college. Even though North was in entertainment, she was still a sophomore in New York.
Pamela smiled. โTeacher, Olive only graduated from high school. She has no academic qualifications or tutor.โ
In the medical world, mentors were highly valued. A respected mentor was a studentโs brand. Pamelaโs face radiated with pride because of Professor Ruger.
โWhat?โ Professor Ruger frowned, looking at Hudson. โDirector Hudson, Olive only graduated from high school? How was she admitted? When did Ivory Councilโs admission standards drop so low?โ
Hudson, like Professor Ruger, valued degrees and medical experience, which Olive lacked. Her background was unclear. He smiled awkwardly; he couldnโt have Olive removed.
โProfessor Ruger, have some coffee,โ Hudson said, changing the subject.
Professor Ruger was dissatisfied. โOlive, as a girl, you must focus on character building, education, and self-development. You may not reach Pamelaโs level, but you shouldnโt give up on yourself.โ
Professor Ruger was skilled at scolding people. His contempt for Olive was obvious.
Pamela felt proud. A few days ago, she had looked ill; now, she smiled radiantly, standing beside Professor Ruger, looking down at Olive. Pamela knew ruining Oliveโs reputation would drive Elvis to divorce her.
Olive poured tea for Professor Ruger, smiling neither arrogantly nor calmly.
โProfessor Ruger, I consider myself your student. I will work hard in the future.โ
Professor Ruger and Pamela felt their egos crushed.
