Chapter 131: Please Don’t Talk to Me
Professor Ruger's request was reasonable, especially considering he was a guest. Director Hudson promptly instructed, "Olive, retrieve Professor Ruger from the library. He's the 'Greater Doctor.'"
"Okay," Olive replied, turning to leave.
A crowd of students milled outside the office, chattering amongst themselves.
"Professor Ruger flew all this way to support Pamela. Olive lost by a landslide."
"Who wouldn't adore a brilliant goddess like Pamela?"
Divine was furious. Professor Ruger had summoned Olive solely to humiliate her.
"Olive, our library is enormous. Finding that book will take forever! Professor Ruger is deliberately making things difficult. I'll help you!"
Olive smiled, reassuring Divine, "Divine, you don't need to. I can find it myself."
She patted Divine's shoulder and excused herself. Once Olive left, Greg gloated, "Divine, Olive's luck is about to run out. Since we're acquainted, I advise you to distance yourself from her."
Divine glared angrily. "Who are you? Do I know you? Please don't talk to me!"
Divine's shift from respectful to contemptuous treatment crushed Greg's ego, leaving him seething. Yet, he couldn't help but be captivated by her spirited expression and charming features.
A handsome young man approached. "Divine, I have two movie tickets. Want to go?"
Someone was already pursuing Divine! Greg felt a pang of discomfort; the girl who'd always been at his beck and call was suddenly highly sought after, and she was no longer his.
Pamela found Greg outside the pharmacy. "Team Leader Greg, what are you doing here?"
Greg, clearly in a foul mood, had stepped out for some air. Sighting Pamela, his mood improved. She was the goddess he worshipped.
"Pamela, don't worry, Olive won't find the book. 'Greater Doctor' is with me." He produced a book from his pocket.
Pamela smiled happily. "Team Leader Greg, thank you. No matter what, you're always there for me." He hugged her.
"Pamela, I like you very much. Elvis is married to Olive. I'll do anything for you. Be my girlfriend?"
Pamela disliked Greg, preferring Elvis, and aiming to become Mrs. Augustine. However, Greg's assistance was valuable, so she needed to keep him appeased to manipulate him.
She didn't reject him outright, replying softly, "Team Leader Greg, I don't like Elvis anymore. But I need to focus on my studies and career. Please give me some time."
Greg smiled, relieved by her non-rejection. "It's fine, Pamela. I'll wait."
After speaking with Greg, Pamela encountered Professor Ruger leaving Director Hudson's office. She hugged his arm. "Sir, thank you for your kindness."
Professor Ruger, roughly Monica's age, was the academy's most prestigious professor. He favored Pamela, the first Los Angeles student admitted, for her diligence and possession of the first volume of Olive's mother's medical textbook.
Professor Ruger observed, "Pamela, I've met Olive. Do you see her as a rival, even without a college education? You need to secure an unassailable position. As for Augustine's CEO, we medical students marry promising doctors, not wealthy businessmen."
Pamela simply nodded and smiled, accepting his advice without argument. Impressed, he gave her a gold card.
"Pamela, this is for you," he said.
"Sir, what is this?" she asked.
"An invitation to a Los Angeles medical celebrity dinner hosted by the principal."
Overwhelmed, Pamela expressed her gratitude profusely. As Professor Ruger basked in her praise, a familiar figure appeared, causing his demeanor to shift dramatically.
"Pamela, I have to go," he excused himself, hurrying after the figure. He reached a corner of the pharmacy.
"Master Marvin! It's really you!" he exclaimed.
Marvin stopped.
"Master Marvin, why are you at the Ivory Council? The principal arrived today. Have you contacted your aunt?"
Professor Ruger recognized Marvin, the principal's nephew, Bounty Augustine, and a medical genius.
