Chapter 199: Push Her Away

In the hotel room, Marvin quietly hugged Olive. The door burst open. Marvin looked up, meeting Elvis's narrow, intense gaze. Elvis stood in the doorway, his hawk-like eyes sweeping the room. Olive hugged Marvin tightly, and he returned her embrace.

Elvis scoffed and stepped inside, grabbing Olive's arm and pulling her away from Marvin. Olive's body slammed against Elvis's chest, the pain causing her to wince. Looking up at his grim face, her consciousness returned.

"Mr. Augustineโ€ฆ" she began.

Elvis lowered his eyes, his thin lips curving sarcastically. "What? Surprised to see me? Did I interrupt something?"

Olive glanced at Elvis, then at Marvin, realizing she was clinging to the wrong man. "Mr. Augustine, Iโ€ฆ" she stammered, unable to articulate her thoughts.

"Where's your mask?" Elvis interrupted.

Olive touched her face. The mask was gone; Marvin had removed it. Speechless and confused, she could only stare at him.

"Why don't you say something? I'm awaiting your explanation," Elvis demanded, his gaze piercing and cold, seeming to see right through her. Yet, his face remained impassive; Olive knew Elvis's wrath was a terrifying thing.

Marvin's voice cut through the silence. "Don't make this difficult for her. I can explain everything."

"Oh, right. I forgot you were still here," Elvis said, a dismissive tone in his voice. He dragged Olive into the bathroom and locked the door.

Olive immediately began tapping frantically. "Mr. Augustine, let me out! I can explain!"

Elvis ignored her, stepping out to confront Marvin. Grabbing him by the collar, he said, "I'm giving you a chance to speak."

"To be honest, it's just as you saw."

Elvis chuckled darkly. "Why should I believe you?"

Marvin paused. "Olive's blood is very special."

"Her mother treated her with numerous medicinal herbs," Elvis interjected.

Marvin nodded. "Do you know the mandala flower? It's rumored to exist between life and death, extremely poisonous, and incredibly rare."

"Say something useful!" Elvis snapped impatiently.

"Olive was trying to use it to heal you. She was testing the medicine," Marvin added.

Elvis's pupils constricted. He tightened his grip, pressing Marvin against the wall. "What the fuck are you saying?"

"She was testing the medicine. The first time was the night you beat me in the pharmacy; she collapsed in my arms. This is the second time. The poison affected her judgment, making her mistake me for you," Marvin explained, swallowing hard.

Elvis's heart clenched, his breath catching in his throat.

Marvin pulled a piece of paper from his pocket, revealing Olive's equation. "Elvis, Olive is risking her life for you. She's willing to die to save you!"

Elvis released Marvin, stepping back. He'd initially dismissed the idea of Olive refining medicines, but nowโ€ฆ he didn't know she'd used the mandala flower's poison!

Was she crazy?

"Elvis, I guarantee this is her last time. Three attempts, and she'll be dead. Before she tries again, push her away. Only then will she use her head, not her heart. Push her away so she can live," Marvin pleaded earnestly.

Olive, locked in the bathroom, continued knocking, wondering what transpired between the two men. Though conscious, her face remained pale. She swayed, about to fall, catching herself on the sink. Closing her eyes, then opening them again, she saw the bathroom door open and Elvis enter.

A tall, handsome figure stood silhouetted in the doorway. Elvis stepped inside, removing his black coat and draping it over her shoulders. He carried her out of the hotel and into the passenger seat of his Rolls-Royce Phantom.

He slid behind the wheel, starting the engine. The car glided smoothly down the road, a silence settling between them. His hand resting on the steering wheel, Elvis stared at the road, saying indifferently, "You know Marvin likes you, right?"
