Chapter 200: Olive, Let's Divorce
Olive was surprised by Elvis's sudden declaration. She wasn't naive; Marvin's affection for her was evident.
"No, I don't know," she replied, shaking her head.
Elvis interrupted, "Let me inform you. Marvin likes you. He fell in love with you at first sight in Imperial City two years ago. He came to LA searching for you and has been here for over a year."
Olive turned to him, defensive. "Why are you telling me this? I don't like him!"
Elvis remained silent, focusing on the road. They arrived at the Red Villa and went to the bedroom.
"Go take a shower," Elvis whispered.
"Mr. Augustine, Iโ"
"Shower first," he interrupted, "Then say whatever you want."
His domineering attitude was unmistakable. Olive showered quickly and returned to find Elvis by the window, smoking, handsome and composed in a black shirt and trousers. Only his jawline and furrowed brow were visible through the smoke.
Olive hugged him from behind. "Mr. Augustine, nothing happened between Marvin and me. I can explainโ"
"Are you tired?" Elvis's cold voice cut her off.
"Huh?"
He didn't turn. "Am I asking if you're tired of being with me? I lose my temper, I'm always sick. You must be tired of it all, right?"
Olive shook her head. "No, I'm not tired at all."
"Not tired of the constant fighting? I'm tired of everything. Olive, let's get a divorce."
The words stunned Olive. She stepped back, dumbfounded. Elvis turned, his narrow eyes fixed on her.
"I'm not kidding. I'll have the lawyer prepare the papers. You'll get a fair share of the assets. Sign them when they arrive, and we're done."
Olive stared, dazed. It took a moment for the gravity of his words to sink in. "Why? Why...why should we get a divorce?" she stammered.
Elvis scoffed. "Why? Don't you know? Since we married, I'm constantly called to deal with your alleged affairs. It's become my daily routine! And you claim nothing happened with Marvin! He even removed your mask today, and you still deny it? Do you expect me to believe that?"
"Enough!" Olive's voice rose, her eyes flashing. "You don't have to slander me!"
Elvis saw her reddened eyes. He knew his jealousy was consuming him, pushing him to this drastic measure. "There are many ways to please a man. How do I know if you've pleased Marvin? Your mask was removed, and you didn't even notice. Who knows what you twoโ"
Before he finished, Olive slapped him. The cigarette near his fingers burned, but the pain was nothing compared to his emotional turmoil. She touched his face, her eyes watery but determined to hold back her tears.
She wrapped her arms around his waist, pressing her face against his chest. "Mr. Augustine, I'm so cold. Please hug me."
The cigarette fell. His hands remained at his sides, sensing her coldness. He started to raise them, but froze.
"Mr. Augustine, I'm not feeling well. Why are we talking about divorce? Please just hold me, I feel dizzy," Olive pleaded, clinging to him. But he remained unresponsive.
She looked up, but before she could speak, he pushed her away. Olive fell onto the carpet, moaning. Elvis stared down at her, his eyes bloodshot. His voice was cruel and hoarse.
"Reserve some dignity and don't bother me further. The divorce papers will arrive soon. Sign them."
