Chapter 202 Grow Old Beside Him
The tipsiness Elvis had felt earlier vanished. A short time ago, drunk, he had mistaken Pamela for Olive. But burying his face in Pamela's long hair, he smelled not Olive's sweet fragrance, but something artificial. He was instantly sober. She wasn't his Olive.
The thought of embracing Pamela filled him with discomfort. He wanted to bathe immediately. "Get out, and don't let me see you again!" he snapped, rushing into the bathroom.
He stripped off his black shirt, already stained with Pamela's scent; a strand of her hair clung to the fabric. He tossed the shirt in the trash, turned on the shower, and let the cold water cascade over his head. He scrubbed repeatedly, but the disgust remained.
He closed his eyes, and Olive's soft voice echoed in his ears. He rinsed himself, impatient and flustered, then stopped abruptly. What was he doing? Didn't he want a divorce? Didn't he want to push her away?
He closed his eyes again, letting the cold water wash over him. His mind was consumed by thoughts of Olive. "How is she now? Is she feeling better?" he wondered. He imagined her hating him, wanting nothing more to do with him, leaving him soon, signing the divorce papers.
A breath escaped him, a sharp pain piercing his heart. Olive was the girl he loved with all his heart, the girl who loved him so deeply she would hurt herself to save him. To prevent her from future self-harm, he had to push her away. He yearned to cure his illness, but not at the cost of her life. Her life was just beginning. She would meet someone better, someone who would make her happy. And he… he would never find another like her. He knew how much he needed her; she was his only medicine.
But it didn't matter. He wanted to face his hell alone. He had come from hell; he shouldn't be greedy for sunshine.
Chapter 202 Grow Old Beside Him (continued)
The next morning, Olive awoke to restored vision. After washing, she went to the Ivory Council. Mrs. Robert was awake, and the VIP ward buzzed with happiness. Dean Sebastian, examining Mrs. Robert, smiled. "Ma'am, congratulations. The surgery was a success, and your recovery is excellent. You'll live a long life."
Mrs. Robert, though weak, was in good spirits. She held Olive's hand. "Thank you, my angel. You saved me. I must repay you properly."
Olive smiled. "Ma'am, it's our duty to treat people. You don't need to repay me; your health is reward enough."
"No, I must," Mrs. Robert insisted. "I owe you my life. I'm promising you my life."
Olive's eyes widened. Derrick, eating an apple, chuckled. "Grandma, why would you promise your life to this… girl?"
Old Mrs. Robert grabbed a pillow and flung it at Derrick's face. "You're the ugly one! The ugliest creature in the world!"
Derrick stared, disbelieving. He moved closer. "Grandma, are you favoring her over me?"
Ignoring him, Mrs. Robert patted Olive's hand. "Angel, look at my grandson. Isn't he handsome? Rich and influential. You can take him and… discipline him. If you agree, I'll have him propose. We can arrange it immediately!"
Everyone was stunned, including Olive. The old woman was pairing her grandson with Olive!
Olive quickly murmured, "Ma'am, thank you for your kindness, but I really can't stand your grandson."
Derrick, his peach blossom eyes narrowed, felt uncomfortable. This was the first time a woman had rejected him. "Angel, why?"
Olive interrupted, whispering, "I already have someone. I'm married."
Chapter 203 Grow Old Beside Him
Mrs. Robert and Derrick stiffened. Olive looked so young; they never guessed she was married. Olive raised her red lips, her eyes shining. "Ma'am, I'm married. My husband isn't always easy, he gets angry sometimes. But I love him. I want to be with him through every season, heal his heart, and grow old beside him."
