Chapter 203: Leaving Los Angeles for Imperial
Olive's voice was soft and gentle, a bright smile flickering in her clear eyes. "Ma'am, I'm sorry, but I must decline your offer."
Old Mrs. Robert understood. Her little angel was married and deeply loved her husband. "Oh, my little angel," Mrs. Robert said lovingly, "since I've already promised, you may request anything, and I will grant it."
Olive stood slowly. "Ma'am, I must reiterate, my duty is to treat people. Please take care of yourself. I must go now, but I will visit when I'm free."
Olive walked out of the ward. Suddenly, Derrick's voice called from behind her, "Hello, ugly girl!" He had followed her.
Olive stopped and looked back. "Mr. Rodriguez, do you have something to say to me?"
Derrick stared at her with his captivating eyes. "Are you really married?" he asked, intrigued.
"Yes, I am," Olive replied.
Derrick approached her. Olive's eyes shone brightly. He reached out to remove her mask. Olive swiftly batted his hand away.
Derrick snorted, retracting his hand. "I think you're just uglyโvery uglyโso don't blame me. Why didn't you ask for anything when my grandmother offered? Just so you know, I'm returning to Imperial with my grandmother."
It was expected that Mrs. Robert and Derrick would return home. "I'll give you a meal schedule later," Olive replied calmly. "The old lady needs a specific diet for proper recovery."
Derrick realized Olive wouldn't make a request. He narrowed his eyes. "Ugly girl, will you come with us to Imperial City?"
Olive shook her head. "I can't afford to, at present."
"You saved my grandmother's life. I owe you a favor and will definitely reward you. Once you arrive in Imperial City, just find the young master toโฆplay with." Derrick then left.
Olive, puzzled by his words, shrugged and continued on her way.
In the VIP ward, Old Mrs. Robert muttered in a daze, "It's not fun. My little angel can't be my granddaughter-in-law. Hurry and pack; let's return to Imperial City."
"Grandma, you snuck into Los Angeles," Derrick suggested. "Didn't you intend to visit your old friend? Before leaving, would you like to meet her for coffee?"
Old Mrs. Robert dismissed the idea. "No need. She's been here six or seven years. Her free time is over. She'll soon return to Canada because her son is coming to pick her up. Let's return to Imperial first; I'll see her then."
"Okay, I'll have the private jet ready."
Olive had taken another blood test and suspected she'd been severely affected by the flower's poison. She was certain the partial blindness was caused by it.
She examined the test sheet. The flower's poison was extremely toxic. She couldn't save herself, nor Mr. Augustine.
A cold, handsome figure appearedโMarvin. His eyes fell on the test sheet in her hand. "Do you have the flower's poison in your system?" he asked calmly.
Olive quickly folded the sheet and put it in her bag. She changed the subject. "Academician Augustine, thank you again for saving me. You've saved me many times. Mr. Augustine and I would like to invite you to dinner to show our gratitude."
Marvin understood her implication. "I have other matters to attend to. See you later." Olive turned to leave.
"Olive," Marvin reached out, grasping her wrist.
Olive stopped and forcefully pulled away. "Academician Augustine, I'm your sister-in-law, and you're my brother-in-law. Please minimize physical contact."
Marvin looked at her bright eyes, pursed his lips, and said, "Olive, come back to Imperial City with me. You've been poisoned. I can save you."
Olive looked at Marvin. "Olive, do you want to die?" he asked tenderly.
Olive shook her head. "No, I want to live. But I still have much to do here."
"If you want to live, come to Imperial City. It's your only chance of survival."
Olive took a deep breath, remaining silent. "Olive," Marvin pleaded patiently, "I want to know why you stay. This city holds only memories of betrayal and abandonment from your childhood. Imperial City is a medical center; I have a feeling you were born there, that you belong there. Leave Los Angeles and come with me to Imperial City."
Olive looked down. "But Mr. Augustine is here. Here's where I met him. All my memories of him are here; I can't bear to leave. I can't let go of him. It's true this city holds bad memories, but because of Mr. Augustine, I still love it."
Marvin sighed. "Then what about your health?"
"I'll consider going to Imperial, but Academician Augustine, don't waste your time on me. I'm not worth it." Olive turned and walked away.
Marvin watched her go, then took out his phone and sent a message to Elvis.
Olive didn't want to die; she wanted to live a good life, so leaving for Imperial had to be part of her plan. But before leaving, she had to deal with the Hart family's issuesโuncovering the truth about her grandfather's fall ten years ago and putting Pamela in her place.
She took a taxi to the Hart home. She wanted to see her grandfather, Old Master Hart.
But when Olive entered his room, he was gone.
Olive quickly asked the maid, "Where's my grandfather?"
Monica sauntered over, smiling at Olive. "Olive, you needn't look for him. We've moved him. You will not see him again."
Olive's eyes widened, her fists clenched.
