Chapter 243: Fall in Love Seriously (1)
Olive froze. Elvis's large hand rested on her abdomen. His handsome face was buried in her hair as he whispered, "We didn't use contraception."
Olive knew she didn't have much time. She turned to him. "No, I want to give you a baby."
Elvis's eyes darkened instantly. He pulled her against the wall, his arms circling her waist. "Want to give me a baby? Don't you want me to be a father? I don't believe you'd still want an abortion if you were pregnant," she added.
Elvis stared at her. Finally, he said, "Olive, let's go to Imperial. I'll work hard to heal, to become a better man. The future I offer may not be perfect, but I'll give you everything. Olive, I love you. I can't live without you."
After careful consideration, Elvis realized he didn't want to be separated from Olive. Perhaps it was because he'd taken her virginity, or perhaps because she'd expressed her desire to have his child—he'd become greedy and selfish again. He wanted Olive in his arms forever. He couldn't lose her.
Olive's eyes welled. She understood the weight of his words. Elvis was a deep, reserved man; expressing his feelings was unusual. Yet, he'd confessed his love.
She sniffed and laughed humorlessly. "Mr. Augustine, I was joking. How could you take that seriously? I won't get pregnant. I'm on my safe period. Don't worry; you won't be a father."
Elvis froze. He'd poured his heart out. Slowly, he loosened his grip. His face was devoid of emotion. He muttered indifferently, "Okay."
He turned and went to the bedside, pulling off a sheet. "Rest. I'll wash this." He hugged the sheet and left.
Olive concluded he was angry, ignoring her while he washed the bloodstained sheet. She watched him from behind. Once finished, he hung the sheets to dry. Lunch was ready; the staff had been discreet all day.
After eating, Olive tugged on Elvis's arm, looking up at him. "Mr. Augustine, let's go on a date. Let's go to the nearby town, watch a movie, and shop—like couples about to fall in love."
He remained awkward, avoiding her gaze, but wrapped his arms around her waist. "Okay, let's go."
Olive hesitated. Elvis turned, inquiring, "What's wrong?"
"What's wrong with me?" Olive clenched her fist and punched him twice in the chest. "It's all your fault!" she half-shouted.
Elvis understood. He patted her back. "Come, I'll carry you back to rest. We'll go out tomorrow."
Olive quickly jumped up, wrapped her arms around his neck, and kissed his face. "Why are you angry?"
He held her securely, pursing his lips. "I think you're playing with me."
"How?"
"You want a honeymoon, but not forever. You'll just leave when the time comes. Isn't that ruthless?"
She buried her face in his neck, whispering, "Mr. Augustine, I'm sorry."
"It's okay," he replied.
They didn't revisit the subject. Their time was limited; neither wanted to waste it arguing. Elvis carried her to the room. She wished the journey wouldn't end, that he'd carry her forever.
Olive applied medicine. In the evening, they showered and lay in bed. Elvis asked, "Mrs. Augustine, are you alright?"
"I'm not feeling well. My body aches," she replied, avoiding his gaze.
He rolled over, pulling the blanket over them. "Let me see."
"No."
"Show me."
They bickered under the covers.
Chapter 244: Fall in Love Seriously (2)
Having slept late, Olive and Elvis remained in bed the next morning. Three days passed; on the fourth, they still hadn't left the room.
In the evening, a knock came, and Mrs. Kathy entered, smiling and pulling Olive aside. "Miss Olive, I made you fish soup."
Olive wore a black jacket zipped to the top, small white shoes covering her feet. Her black hair was loose, her face radiant. It was their last night; tomorrow, Alpha would collect Elvis. Tonight, they would watch the sunrise.
"Aunt Kathy, why the soup?" Olive asked.
"Miss Olive, you haven't left the room for three days. Young people are strong, and you know… but you need to replenish your energy," Mrs. Kathy explained seriously. Olive blushed and hurried away. "Aunt Kathy, I don't want it now."
Unwatching her step, she stumbled into Elvis's arms. "What are you panicking about? Walk carefully! What if you fell?" he scolded gently.
