Olive looked up at Elvisโs handsome face. Compared to her, he was in a good mood. He wore a black coat; handsome and stylish, his figure easily surpassing that of international male models.
โItโs all your fault! Why didnโt you stay in one place?โ Olive covered her blushing face with her hands.
Elvis furrowed his brow, puzzled by her reaction.
โMrs. Augustine, I want to know why our relationship wasnโt this serious when we were married. Why werenโt we this serious?โ Elvis asked, staring at her.
Olive suspected his meaning and ignored the question. The honeymoon was vastly different from her expectations.
After bidding farewell to their neighbors, the couple headed to the mountain. Olive was incapable of climbing it. Elvis offered her a piggyback ride, carrying her the entire way.
Reaching the summit, Olive spotted a bird chirping. She pointed excitedly at a large tree.
โMr. Augustine, look! Thereโs a birdโs nest!โ
Elvis looked up. โWhatโs so special about a birdโs nest?โ
โMr. Augustine, you know nothing! When I was young, I always wanted to climb a tree and get a birdโs nest. There must be eggs! I could keep them until they hatched. Itโs fascinating to imagine.โ Olive reminisced about her childhood.
โReally?โ Elvis snorted, his response dismissive.
Olive grabbed his ear. โDonโt laugh at me!โ
No one had ever dared to grab Elvisโs ear.
โMrs. Augustine, youโve become quite bold! You dare grab my ear?โ Elvis exclaimed incredulously.
Olive disregarded his reaction. Placing a hand on her hip, she declared, โWhatโs wrong with grabbing your ear? Iโll even make you kneel at night!โ
Elvis instantly understood her meaning. Olive immediately conceded, realizing her threat was empty.
โMr. Augustine, Iโm sorry,โ she pleaded.
That night, Elvis and Olive pitched a tent, but instead of sleeping, they sat together on the mountaintop.
โItโs cold. Donโt catch a cold,โ Elvis warned, wrapping her in a blanket, leaving only her head exposed.
โMr. Augustine, Iโm very happy now,โ Olive said, resting her head on his shoulder and smiling.
Elvis hugged her tightly, his lips brushing her face. โYou can choose to stay happy forever.โ
Oliveโs heart skipped a beat. They hadnโt discussed the unpleasant topic in two days, yet Elvis raised it again.
โOlive, if you like it here, letโs stay forever.โ
โMr. Augustine,โ Olive interrupted, โyou must abide by the agreement. We agreed on a five-day honeymoon. When the sun rises, we part ways.โ
Elvis tightened his grip and lowered his head. After a moment, he said, โSleep a while. Iโll hold you. Iโll wake you when the sun rises.โ
โOkay.โ Olive nestled into his warm embrace, listening to his heartbeat. She was truly happy. Soon, she murmured, โMr. Augustine, will you sing me a song?โ
โWhat song?โ
โAnything.โ
Elvis hugged her closer and sang a lullaby:
โTwinkle, twinkle, little star, How I wonder what you are. Up above the world so high, Like a diamond in the skyโฆโ
Oliveโs fingers clung to his shirt, feeling intertwined with him. She thought of the futureโElvis with a daughter he loved. He would be a wonderful father. It was a pity she couldnโt be a part of his future.
Olive fell asleep in his arms. Elvis hugged her close, unable to sleep. The thought of this being their last day made him restless and selfish. He had once pushed her away, but now, he didnโt want to let go.
Hours passed. The sky gradually lightened, and the morning sun rose slowly over the horizon.
โOlive, wake up, the sunโs up,โ Elvis gently tapped her shoulder.
Olive heard his soft call and slowly opened her eyes. The sun shone brilliantly. She was happy to have fallen asleep to his lullaby and woken in his arms.
Watching the sunrise from the mountaintop, Olive felt no regrets.
โMr. Augustine, letโs go back.โ The honeymoon was over; they needed to return home.
Elvis stood, gazing gently at Olive. โDo you want me to carry you?โ
Olive took his hand and shook her head. โNo, itโs still early. Just hold my hand.โ
โOkay.โ
They descended the mountain. Suddenly, Elvis let go of her hand.
โWait here, Iโll be back soon.โ
โWhere are you going?โ Olive asked, her eyes fixed on him.
Elvis didnโt answer, simply walking away. Olive watched him go, when her phone vibrated. It was a message from Alpha.
โHello, Miss Hart. Our appointment time has arrived.โ
โYes, come pick him up,โ Olive replied swiftly.
Back inside, she placed her phone on the dressing table. The mandala flower sat on the balcony. Olive retrieved an injection from the cabinet, the needle containing the flowerโs poison. Slowly, she pushed the needle into her body.
