Chapter 258
When Noah heard the newsโthat his fiancรฉe, Olive, had been accepted into Watson Medical University after being rejected by Bright Starโhe was racing with some wealthy friends. Their mockery stung. โYoung Master White,โ one said, โI heard your father-in-law took your fiancรฉe to Bright Star this morning, and she wanted to get in. But Vice-Principal Baker personally shut the gate, refusing entry. Then, unbelievably, she got into Watsonโthe worst medical university! What a shame. I thought she'd inherit the Hart family fortune.โ
Noah ripped off his cap. "What? That clown went to medical university? Bright Star wouldn't have her, and she ended up at Watson? The worst!" He felt utterly humiliated by his engagement to Olive. Her previous phone call had been insulting, but now, this... "Let's go," he declared. "I'm going to Watson to stop that clown. I'm canceling this marriage today, or I'll be the laughingstock of my life."
His entourage, sensing the drama, eagerly followed. "Young Master White, wait for us! We'll see your fiancรฉe's true colors!"
Meanwhile, at Bright Star University, Crystal heard the gossip about Olive. Students buzzed excitedly. "Crystal, your cousin Noah's fiancรฉe got into Watson! I heard the Harts caused a scene there this morning, scaring the vice-principal!" one girl exclaimed. "And Young Master White is leading a group to confront Olive at the school gate. This is going to be good!" Another added, "Let's go watch after school, Crystal. It's right next door!"
Bright Star and Watson were practically neighbors. The excited chatter irked Crystal. Olive's sudden fame unsettled her. Crystal, used to being the center of attention, felt displaced. Even if the crowd was there for a spectacle, it bothered her. What was so interesting about Olive, anyway? She checked her watch, smiled sweetly, and stood. "Sorry, I can't. Elvis is picking me up. I need to find him." The others were envious of her happiness. "You're so lucky, Crystal! You're a girl in love!"
This was Crystal's lifeโa life of envy and praise. Waving, she left.
In Medical Class 2, the school bell rang, and students rushed to Olive's side. "Olive, this chocolate is from my mom in Germany! Let's be friends!" one exclaimed. Another offered, "Olive, where do you live? I'll drive you home!" A third pressed a note into her hand.
Surrounded by this enthusiastic welcome, Olive smiled politely. "Thank you for your kindness. We're classmates, and friends already. I can't accept your gifts. I'll go home now. See you tomorrow."
She left, but the students stuffed the gifts into her desk drawer, overflowing onto the floor as they chased after her. This sceneโa vibrant group surrounding Oliveโwas captivating.
Alicia laughed. "Olive, don't worry. We haven't seen this at Watson in ages! They all used to flock to Bright Star to see Crystal, the 'beauty queen.' Now, you're the new doll they're fighting over!" Olive smiled knowingly.
Students took photos and posted them online: "Warmly welcome Watson's new beauty!"
A Rolls-Royce Phantom slowly stopped outside Bright Star. Elvis Augustine arrived to pick up Crystal. He remained in the car, lowering the window to let in some air. Then, a commotion erupted at the Watson gate; it was the rush hour exodus. Elvis glanced over, his eyes narrowing, then looking away, only to glance back again two seconds later. He saw Olive immediately, surrounded by the crowd. Her slender frame, though in a simple uniform, stood out strikingly. Her figure was graceful, her skin flawless. She carried a small black backpack. She was beautiful, elegant, and pristine.
Elvis's pupils constricted. A sharp pang pierced his heart. He stared at her, his gaze burning intensely. It hurt.
Crystal ran out to greet him. Elvis sat behind the wheel of the Rolls-Royce, seemingly lost in thought, staring intently at Olive, so absorbed he didn't notice his surroundings or even blink. Crystal had never seen him look at a girl with such passion; he was usually indifferent, even unresponsive during kisses. She'd assumed he wasn't interested in girls. But nowโฆ
Crystal also noticed something odd. Normally, many young men, especially from Watson, would gather outside Bright Star hoping to catch a glimpse of her. Today, no one was there. Instead, they were all at the Watson gate, surrounding Olive.
A red sports car screeched to a halt at the Watson gate. Noah, accompanied by several young men, stepped out arrogantly. "The Hart family clown is here! Let's get her out of here."
