Chapter 389: Olive Will Be Mine From Now On
Olive looked upโElvis was here! He wore a hand-sewn black suit, tall and handsome. His long legs moved with a powerful aura, like an emperor, and the noisy crowd parted before him. He walked to Olive's side, spontaneously extending a large hand to hug her slender waist. The intimate gesture spoke volumes to the onlookers. Olive struggled, unsure of his intentions. Elvis lowered his eyelids, warning, "Don't move, I'm helping you!" Olive shivered. She most wanted to avoid hurting Marvin; this was between her and Elvis. Elvis's intervention could eliminate Marvin completely. Olive remained still.
Microphones were thrust toward Elvis. The crowd was ecstatic, shouting questions: "Mr. Augustine, is it true you and Olive had a good time together?" "Mr. Augustine, you were engaged to Crystal, daughter of the Rabert family. Are you implying Olive is a mistress?" "Mr. Augustine, what will you do next? How will you handle Crystal and Olive?" Cameras flashed. Marvin watched, observing Elvis and Olive surrounded by reporters. He attempted to approach, but Lily restrained him.
"Marvin, enough," she said. "Olive pushed you away; don't interfere. It's between Elvis and Olive. What can you do?" Lily secretly relished Olive taking the brunt of the negativity, leaving Marvin unscathed. However, she harbored no genuine affection for Olive and enjoyed watching the unfolding drama. The bigger the trouble, the better!
Marvin froze, deeply wounded by Lily's words. He knew it was always between Elvis and Olive. He'd strived to be a part of their world, but remained an outsider. Olive had pushed him away; had she considered that he wanted to face the storm with her? Yet, she always chose Elvis. Her happiness, her life, revolved around him. Marvin felt a crushing sense of frustration and helplessness, overwhelmed by the tide of events. He turned and left.
All eyes were on Elvis and Olive. He held Olive close, his hawk-like eyes scanning the crowd. The chaotic atmosphere instantly quieted under his gaze. Facing the cameras, he stated succinctly, "Crystal and I have ended our engagement."
Olive looked at him in astonishment.
Elvis continued, "Crystal and I have annulled our engagement, as have Olive and Marvin. The four of us are free. That man is me. Regarding our personal relationship, I have no further comment." He hugged Olive and left.
This bombshell stunned the reporters. As they departed, the crowd erupted. "Mr. Augustine, a few more words!" a reporter shouted. Elvis responded sharply, "I told you, I have nothing more to say. We're both unmarried. Is it wrong to have sex? Or do you want our entire history? We're using birth control; it's simple."
Whispers rippled through the crowd. Elvis had admitted to sleeping with Olive and using birth control! The reporter, speechless, noticed Elvis's glance at his "Public Entertainment" press card. The reporter paled, sensing impending doom. Before he could react, Elvis and Olive disappeared. His phone rangโhis editor-in-chief.
A dreary voice barked, "I sent you to interview, not to antagonize Elvis! Do you know who he is? He's the president of Augustine Corporation. We've just received a callโwe're declaring bankruptcy."
The reporter's legs weakened; the phone slipped from his grasp. Had Elvis actually caused their bankruptcy? He was terrifying, a demon.
At the Augustine house, Elvis and Olive entered to find Marvin in the living room. A cold stare passed between Marvin and Elvis, followed by a heavy punch from Marvin that landed squarely on Elvis's face. Elvis didn't dodge; blood trickled from his lip.
The servants screamed, hiding as the two Augustine heirs fought. Marvin, grabbing Elvis's collar, pinned him against the wall. "Why didn't you dodge?"
Wiping the blood, Elvis looked up and said, word for word, "I accept this. Olive will be mine from now on."
Marvin's eyes burned with fury. He wanted to strike again, but Olive intervened. "Marvin, stop! It's not worth it."
Marvin clenched his fists, glaring at Elvis. "Then treat her well, or I won't let you go." He took his coat and left.
