Chapter 405
Elvis glanced at Alpha, his disapproval evident. Alpha sighed inwardly, his son still so young. Mr. Paulo approached, announcing, โPresident Augustine, everyoneโs here. Letโs begin the wedding.โ Alpha checked his watch. Elvis then raised his head, surveying the guests. โWait,โ he declared, โsomeone is missing.โ Damien calmly observed the father and son. โWho is young Augustine waiting for? I think everyone is here,โ a confused guest inquired.
Elvis gazed at the door, calling out a name with magnetic intensity: โOlive Hart.โ A ripple of whispers followed. The name caused gasps; Olive's recent notoriety was undeniable. Anyone unfamiliar with her must be from another planet. A voice, barely a whisper, exclaimed, โAugustine, you meanโฆ Olive will be here?โ Another voice, laced with disbelief, added, โHow is that possible? Sheโs been gone for five days! How dare she show her face at Augustine and Pauloโs wedding?โ
Elvisโs lips tightened into a thin line. โShe will definitely come,โ he stated, his tone unwavering. He knew. Her prolonged absence had become unbearable; heโd had to pull her back. Five daysโthe freedom he'd granted her. Now, he wanted to see what she would do.
Suddenly, a "boom" echoed as the door swung open. All eyes turned, pupils widening in unison. Olive was there. She was incredibly brave. But she wasn't alone. Mrs. Robert, seated in a wheelchair, her feet covered by a blanket, her face rosy and bright, accompanied her. Olive pushed the wheelchair.
Nora and Crystal gasped, their expressions shocked. Wasn't the old lady still unconscious in the hospital? And Olive, reappearing after five days, not in secrecy, but at Augustine and Paulo's wedding! Dressed in black, her jet-black hair in a low ponytail, she appeared unchanged, yet everything felt different. Her demeanor was calm, regal, almost hypnotic in its effect, leaving everyone awestruck.
Mrs. Robert, gazing at Mr. Pauloโs grim expression, smiled. โMr. Paulo, your granddaughter is marrying. I came uninvited. I hope I'm not disturbing you.โ Mr. Paulo, despite a sinking feeling, could only manage a curt, โWelcome, Madam.โ
Damien stepped forward, his voice deep, "Mom, when did you wake up? Why didn't the nanny inform me?" Ignoring his question, Mrs. Robert took Olive's hand. โDamien, let me introduce you: this is Olive.โ
Damien's gaze fell upon Olive's face and eyes. A violent shock coursed through him. He'd seen those eyes beforeโeyes as clear as autumn waterโthe daring girl from that night, sitting on his waist. He'd thought it a hallucination, fueled by alcohol and darkness, especially since Nora lacked those captivating eyes. Now, however, he recognized them.
Olive's clear eyes met Damien's. She curled her lips, saying in a clear voice, "Mr. Robert, it's a pleasure to meet you." Damien, composing himself, replied, "Miss Hart, the pleasure is mine."
Mr. Paulo and Nora exchanged a look. The unexpected meeting of father and daughter was devastating. Nora's face paled. Olive's secret couldnโt be revealed; if Mrs. Robert and Damien discovered Crystal's deception, everything would unravel, including the Roberts' generous financial support.
Mrs. Robertโs sharp gaze fixed on Nora. โDamien, have you finalized the divorce proceedings?โ The blunt question stunned everyone. The very people who'd praised Nora's husband's control now stared in astonishment. Nora was the center of attention, but not in the way she desired; it felt like a harsh slap.
Mr. Paulo quickly intervened, "Ma'am, are they divorcing? Why?" Mrs. Robert retorted, โMr. Paulo, ask your daughter. She knows best.โ
Nora froze, her face pale, clenching her fist, "Mom, I won't divorce!" Mr. Paulo hastily said, "It's Marvin and Charlotte's wedding day. Let's discuss this later."
The wedding festivities resumed, with Marvin and Charlotte's arrival on the red carpet. Olive looked at Marvin, noting his diminished charisma. She raised an eyebrow. Elvis continued to gaze at Olive, his attention unwavering. Seeing her frown at Marvin, he pursed his lips in displeasure.
