Chapter 453: Olive Attends the Wedding

Olive was startled. She'd considered countless possibilities, but this was not among them: Elvis and Crystal were getting married tonight.

"Olive, the internet is flooded with news of the Augustine and Robert families' opulent wedding," a voice said. "The grand evening event brought together high-ranking nobles and shocked the entire Imperial city. Elvis's father, Alpha, and Crystal's father, Damienโ€”two titansโ€”were both present. It was a gathering of the city's elite."

"Hey, Olive, are you listening? What happened between you and Mr. Augustine? Why is he suddenly marrying Crystal? Hey, Olive, heyโ€ฆ"

Olive hung up. She sat on the sofa, momentarily blank, feeling dull and dazed. After a few minutes, she rose. Grandma and Betty were sleeping peacefully upstairs, their slumber prolonged by a sleeping draught Olive had administered. Olive changed into Betty's clothes, effectively disguising herself. The guards outside mistook her for Betty and allowed her to leave without question.

Once on the bus and away from The Red Villa, her phone received a signal. As she suspected, The Red Villa's signal was completely blocked; she'd been unreachable by North, and he by her. She opened her browser. The headline screamed about the Augustine and Robert families' wedding, an event that had shocked the city. She clicked. The story dominated both finance and entertainment sections, complete with a live video feed.

The excited presenter announced, "It's been reported that Elvis Augustine, Imperial's foremost businessman, will hold a grand wedding ceremony with Crystal Robert at Serenity Villa this evening. This luxurious reception marks the union of two powerful families. The youngest, handsomest, and richest magnate in the city has won the hearts of many wealthy young women. Crystal, the future Mrs. Augustine, has been the envy ofโ€ฆ"

The camera focused on Elvis. He ascended the polished white porcelain floor in a hand-sewn black suit, impeccably tailored, his short hair neatly combed, revealing a full forehead. His handsome face exuded a noble elegance. Behind him stood a retinue, treating him with the deference due an emperor. Sunlight streaming from the floor-to-ceiling windows cast a golden halo around him.

Reporters surged forward, microphones outstretched. "Mr. Augustine, can you reveal more details about the marriage?" "Will you and Crystal honeymoon?" "Mr. Augustine, are children in your plans? Your firstborn would be the Augustine family's eldest grandson, right?"

Black-clad guards pushed back the reporters. After a brief, noncommittal statement, Elvis entered a luxury sedan, his expression unreadable, never once meeting the camera's gaze.

Olive's small face was pale, bloodless, her beautiful eyes empty. It was only then that the news fully registeredโ€”Elvis and Crystal were marrying. First a whisper, then a roar; the entire world knew, except her. She was the last to find out. Now the reality solidifiedโ€”Elvis was truly marrying Crystal. Butโ€ฆ but it shouldn't be.

She touched the One Love necklace and ring around her neck, his gift. Only days ago, he'd spoken of remarriage, calling her Mrs. Augustine.

"Haha," Olive chuckled wryly, her eyes quickly filling with tears. Trembling, she dialed his number. The melodic ring eventually ended with a familiar voice.

"Hello."

Elvis's magnetic voice. On the bus, she watched the passing scenery, then slowly raised her red lips. "Mr. Augustine, where are you?"

His deep, soothing voice softened slightly. "I'm working today. Eat and sleep well."

"Oh, so you're coming home tonight?"

"What, you miss me?"

Olive nodded. "Yes, Mr. Augustine. Can you come home now? I haven't seen you in three nights."

He paused. "I have to work late tonight, but I'll make it up to you later."

Her long lashes trembled. Tears flowed freely. She looked at her reflection in the bus window, tears streaming, her teeth biting her lip to stifle a sob. Wiping her face, she insisted, "No, Mr. Augustine, come home now. I want to see you. I miss you so much."

"Be good, Olive. I'm in a meeting. I can't leave. I'll be back tonight," he coaxed.

She clutched the One Love ring, then released it, a slight curl to her lips. "Okay. Work hard. I'm tired. I'll go to bed."

She hung up, alone. She knew she'd lost him. This was her only chance. If he'd come home, she would have pretended nothing was wrong. But he didn't. She buried her face in her hands, her shoulders shaking with silent sobs.

After an indeterminate time, she stopped crying. The bus driver asked, "Girl, where to?"

She raised her head. "Serenity Villa."

Elvis and Crystal's lavish wedding was to be held at Serenity Villa, and she would witness it herself.

Serenity Villa. The wedding banquet was a gathering of the city's elite; Damien and Alpha were both present. The bride, Crystal, wore a white silk V-neck gown, a creation of a famous French designer, sparkling with diamonds, breathtakingly beautiful.
